Hey whats up guys.
i purchased my 8gb Apple iTouch about a month ago and ive noticed that alot of my other friends itouchs have other "links" and/or games on the mainscreen such as email, weather, ect besides the normal surfari, youtube, calendar, ect links that come standard....i really didnt wanna go through the typical "my homies friends sisters cousin blah blah blah did it for me" so i looked into it myself and what i found kinda confused the living ish out of me....on one forum board/DIY site it mentioned that i needed to hack into my itouch by making my server (on the itouch) crash
and rebooting it or something...it said that it was completely normal for the server to crash...so heres my question... has anyone done this? will this ultimately harm my itouch? the instructions seem pretty basic and easy to follow but im kinda iffy....
or are there any other ways/methods you guys have used to add these items?
any help and informational imput would greatly be appreciated!
thanks kids :D

For 20 bucks you can purchase the email applications and whatever else it comes with. Or you can use the wireless if you have it to get on to the web.
But i'm not sure what to tell you about the hacking it. If you screw it up I'm sure that you can't return it if its your fault.

If you use any 'homebrew' on it, you will not be able to update it. If you accidentally update it, it will 'brick', meaning it will be 100% worthless and won't even power on.

well i dont know the specifics because it was alot like an automatic program.. i only had to do a few things. www.ipodtouchfans.com is a good forum for alot of the questions you may have
Getting this 3rd party software is called jailbreaking.
follow the instructions on ipodtouchfans.com for jailbreaking your ipod. There are many different ways to do this online most are free and most are only 3rd party software. Apple recently released the SDK kit for developers of new programsmeaning more and more programs will soon be available.
Since this is just a software update your ipod will not become a worthless brick if it crashes. On occasions the new updates for the newer jailbreaks will freeze and crash but then all you have to do is plug it into your computer and it restores through itunes to being good as new.
I have an 8gb itouch as well and it has been jailbroken since it got home no issues aside from it being overfilled.
