I strongly recommend hiring a lawyer. This ticket will haunt your driving record for years, so you want to make sure you get the lowest possible penalty. The outlook is pretty grim though.

I suprised they didn't arrest you then. I guess you can consider yourself lucky. I know in GA you would have been, at least in my county.

I thought I was dumb doing 24 over (twice) and getting caught for it when I was younger. All I can say is there is no excuse for that, they call them cell phones maybe you should use them to call your friend and find out where your going.

wow you accumulate those kinds of points here in michigan, you can basically be losing your license for awhile.. especially with the license you have at 19 years old.. that's the "probationary license" michigan calls it..

and in michigan 24mph over is reckless and they can arrest you for it..

i hope you learned your lesson, you should be thankful someone put a stop to this crazy driving.. At least your tc is in one piece.. and you're in one piece too! you have a nice car, bro.. take care of it.. come on

I guess I'll play devil's advocate here, probably P8ssing off a lot of people on this board, and probably against my better judgement: You have a pretty good chance of keeping your license if you get a lawyer. I have reason to know. I'll leave it at that.

I would sell the car and get a beater when you get your license back. Your insurance will be a king's ransom. Get something that you will not need collision on--just get liability. You might want to try to prove that you need you car for at least getting back and forth to work--but it is unlikely that will do you any good..........

I find that hard to believe, how could I be able to keep it? I mean, I was going 115 in a 65, I have 3 points left and this is a 14 point ticket. That would be awesome tho, but I find that unlikely to happen, what you think?

20tCDude05 definitely NEEDS and attorney. *WARNING: This is NOT official legal advice!* However, looking at Colorado law, it looks like the best he can do is a suspended license for 3 months and a probationary license (Red license) for a period of months for having 29 points against him. Like his friend, he may have to plea for a longer suspension to avoid the red license, and this this will be on his record for seven years.

20tCDude05,
Just out of curiosity, did you get all of these tickets since you've had your tC, or were they in different vehicles?

Oh trust me, I've already learned my lesson.
I don't think you have learned ur lesson...U were sayin that this is your 5th! Man, that's some crzy drivin, especially 115! Slow down man, go to the track if you wanna go that fast. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but it's true. Ur not just puttin your life on the line, but everyone around you! After u get it back(if u do) try to stick to within 10 mph of the speed limit...PLEASE!!

Take it to court. Tell the judge the officer didn't write the ticket for the correct speed and it will be dismissed. They can't write it under or over, it has to be exact, otherwise it's thrown out. Just take it to court, no sweat.

It's actually my 4th one, but I'm happy to see people care. It's nice to have support. I mean, this is a huge impact. I will get it back eventually, it'll take like 4 DUIs to get it away permenantly or something. I'll have to do some changes around here now.

1) Take Public Transportation

2) Trade your tC in for a xB

3) When (or IF) you get your license back... SLOW THE F**K DOWN!!!
IF???

How long can it be taken away? My friend got his taken away for either 6 months with no driving or a year and only drive to work, he chose for 6 months. I'm not that bad off. Got 2 friends who got DUIs, got 1 who punched a cop when he was drunk, got 1 who tried to elude cops on foot, got one who tried to evade a cop while he was under the influence of pot. I know it seems I hangout with the wrong people, but those was a while back and all of them have straightened up, I guess I'm one of the late ones.

dude.....i've done some stupid ____, but damn....that was kinda crossin the line

your stuck to public transport for a while, and dont do anything like that again, or at least get a radar detector!!

dude, you seriously need to slow down....4 tickets for speeding and you would have lost your license for a year here, plus your insurance would be unafoordable, if not dropped

just keep it at least closer to the limit....70 or so in a 65 isnt as bad...

They have to write it up exactly, they can't play around with the numbers like that. It will be thrown out. I'm in the process of becoming a police officer and have many friends who already are. Trust me, if you know anyone who is an officer ask them and they'll say the same thing as me.

Hmm, that's kinda like lying, I mean, I'm not sure if the cop put down the real number or not. But, I was still speeding, it's not like I was going "36" in a 35 and I was actually going 35, ya know? But, I don't know anyone who is a cop, unfortunately, but you're saying I can get away with this?

No, it's not...

In Colorado the speed limits are absolute for most cities and towns and also in 75mph zones. Other areas the limit is presumed. All methods of speed detection are recognized and you do not have the right of discovery at the traffic court level. The rules of evidence also do not apply and your case will usually be heard by a referee.

With a radar speeding ticket the only issue for the court to decide is the speed of the vehicle. The fact that one did not intend to speed, had a broken speedometer, or oversized tires, is not a defense to speeding. In Colorado radar evidence is generally admitted if it is shown that: 1) the officer has been trained in the use of radar equipment and 2) that the equipment’s calibration was properly checked using an appropriate test. Just the oral testimony of the officer is usually sufficient to meet these requirements.
.

Hire an attorney. You are a repeat offender and telling the judge "the officer wrote it for the wrong speed" will negate any goodwill from the judge/referee.

Don't you know how fast you were going, and what did the officer put down on the ticket?

He put down 115 exactly and I'm not sure how fast I was going, maybe 110...

well then don't do what I said .... lol, you don't want to go around accusing an officer of fudging a ticket. I thought it was more obvious than that. and it sounds like you're screwed in CO, so hire an attorney since you have a bad record.
