Default Banks Are Crooks.

I went to deposit money into my checking and I find out I have -20dollars to my account. I deposited $100! I check into it. I understand I went over(my fault ultimately) and they had to spot me but is it really right for them to debit my already negative account with overdraft fee's for going over $2.68 on 3 separate instances. I mean $10 is understandable for anything under 30 dollars but they charged me 40! That's right. 40 for each transfer consisting of 2-3 dollars. Online checking is useless, it's never up to date.

Douchbags at the bank are driving around in loaded Cadilacs because we're just feeding them money. They get paid to handle our money and they treat us unfairly. I just want to close my account and stash my money in a shoebox or something. There goes 100 dollars down the drain.

so your complaining that your bank is doing what they told you they would do when you signed an agreement with them to open a checking account?

do what i do, i pay for everything with my credit card, and then do online banking to pay them off every month. i always know how much is in my account that way.

keeping track of your account balance is your responsibility, if you overspend it, they charge you for it, simple as that. would have been nice if they called you after the first or second time it happened to save you some money, but hopefully this is a lesson learned.

actually exact costs are never revealed in the initial contracts and banks prey on people...they make more money in fees than almost anything else

well, of the banks i've used, they always lay out stuff like what they charge for an overdraft and such. banks make alot of money off fees, but it is competitive and they want to appear to be the best compared to the other bank down the street.

I understand what I signed. I just think it's unfair for me to be charged 40dollars for overdrawing barely 3 bucks. Competitive my ___. So if a bank charges you 40 dollars because you overdrew 2.68 what makes that fair? So what's the difference if the bank down the street's overdraft fee is 38dollars as apposed to 40 dollars they will still rape me up the but for 2 bucks lol. I understand that I should be charged a fee I flucked up, but holy but rapage batman.

The thing with the online banking is that it's never all that accurate that's how I fell into this hole.

Yea you cant rely on the online banking for your information. Though very useful, not always up-2-date. Thats why the good old "balancing of the check book" still is the most effective method. Yea it was ur own fault...and yea it still blows... but they got your by ur balzinos and you cant do anything about. Unless you up and leave and pay cash for everything for the rest of your life lol

Even though it was already said.....keeping track of your account balance is your responsibility. When you opened your account, you agreed to their charges. If you think it is unfair, move to another bank or better yet, a credit union.

BTW, welcome to life! Banks =

must suck to have to use a checkbook.

and checkbooks are only so right especially when a lot of people use online bill paying which of most is automated.

Wow, are you serious? ^^^^ Just because you have automatic bill pay doesn't mean you don't use your checkbook! Although that would explain why banks arew now making so much money off of customers. No matter what guys, balance your checkbooks properly and you will not have any problems. Have auto debits DEDUCT them every month, you know when they come out.

[quote="Andrew1782"..... No matter what guys, balance your checkbooks properly and you will not have any problems....[/quote]

Been using a checkbook for about 12 years now. I have never bounced a check, never ran out of money or for that matter, never been charged a fee by my bank.

The lack of understanding why balancing your expenses is important is quite a comment on our current society, me thinks.

Payday loan centers are even worse! Here in SLC, UT they have placed a ban on them. They are not allowing any new ones to start up for 6 months. Banks, mortgage lenders, and payday loan centers are killing the economy and home market. Granted, it is ultimately the consumers fault for not knowing what they're getting into, but when we have states like Kentucky, we have an excuse right?

I have NEVER used a check! I've had a checking account for 7 years now. I use nothing but my debit card and track everything online. I refuse to do business with anyone that doesn't allow me to pay my bills online. This is the year 2007 for heaven's sake!

it's all about cutoff times. take it from someone who has worked at 4 different banks. there's usually a cut off time where anything done after a certain time ois considered next business day. most likely you made your transfers after cutoff time and that's why you were charged for those od's. usually, even if it's your mistake... if the charge is under $5 then the bank 'could' refund you the fee. then again from coworkers' experiences, some could just say fu to that. but true, ultimately, you have to keep an eye on how much money you have. i use online bankin every single day and i haven't had a problem at all. by the way i don't drive a mercades... i have something better... my xa.
