So..I love beer..haha and just thought maybe about starting a thread where people can share their opinions on what they like, don't like, and maybe throw out some ideas for new stuff to try..or brag about stuff they only get locally.
BTW mods if this is inappropriate, please let me know..I just thought it was a good idea..not trying to talk about drunk adventures, just trying to see who here enjoys a good brooski (sp?), and drinks a beer to enjoy it.
Anyway, lately I've been drinking a couple beers from the Kona Brewing company - Longboarders lager and Wailua wheat w/ passion fruit. Love it! Not to heavy but has good, full flavor. I am not a connoisseur so my terminology may be bad haha but really liking it so far! Anyone else tried it or have suggestions?

Green Flash Brewing Company, Imperial IPA. The best IPA I've ever tasted, and I've been to the Great American Beer Festival 9 times so I've tasted hundreds of IPAs. If you like IPA, this is for you... 9.4% abv and 101 IBUs! It super tasty, but it really sneaks up on you.
Really, never had an IPA? Probably the most popular on the West Coast is Sierra Nevada. They're really hoppy dry beers, hence the high IBU rating. They're clean & fresh, but not with the lemony fruitiness of a Hefeweisen (wheat beer).
They make about 15 different beers now, but the Pale Ale with the green label is their flagship beer that's been around the longest. It's technically just a regular pale ale, but it has a much more hoppy flavor than the IBU level would suggest, so many refer to it as an IPA even though the label doesn't say it.
As long as you drink what you like, and like what you drink, then you're ahead of the game.

I like trying new beers and introducing people to good tasting and good quality beers. I kept calling budlight water and then my friend drank a few beers with me and decided I was right about it being a cheap flavorless beer
I'm going to list some of my favorite beers (not necessarily in order). Some are easy to find just about anywhere, and some aren't so much. Anyways, here's a few beers that I would recommend to anyone to try if you can get them:
Shiner bock (you can get this beer just about anywhere now)-
nice dark color. flavor is mild and malty. Not too much of hop tang to it. Really great everyday beer.
Cooper's pale ale (from Adelaide, Australia. Little harder to find, but I know of 2 places in Cinci that carry it, so it can't be that hard to find)-
One of the best beers I've ever had. I don't have the words for how good this is. Just overall great flavor. If you don't think the Australians know beer, head over there and see how much of it they drink (and noone in Australia drinks Foster's. I've never even seen a bar over there that has it).
Cooper's sparkling (Adelaide again)-
Just like the name, it's very clear sparkling beer. light flavor, but still very much a real beer. Perfect for summertime outdoor grilling and things like that. Goes down like water and is great thirst quencher (but deceptive in that way, since it has a 9% alcohol content!!). Picture a Coor's light that tasts like beer and will get you f&*ed up if you don't watch it.
Yebisu all malts beer (Yebisu area of Tokyo, Japan.)-
My all time favorite beer. Harder to find. If you are in LA or Chicago (and likely NYC), you can find it at Mitsuwa or Nijiya Japanese grocery stores. There are no words for the perfection that this beer is. If you can find it, buy it. Once you taste it, you'll understand how great it is. At $25 for a six pack, it's not something that I could drink everyday, but it's worth the money.
Paulaner hefeweizen (Germany)-
This beer is becoming alot more popular and easy to find in the US now. I'm not so much of a wheat beer guy, but this one makes my list. Really great stuff. If you're into the wheat beers, give this one a try. ...pass on the lemon for this wheat beer. It doesn't need anything with it.
Anyways, just figured I'd share what a few of my favorites are.
I hope others will post some more of what beers they enjoy. I always have liked when people like a beer enough to really recommend it. There's so many beers out there now. It's nice to get some recommendations from people. You nver know till you try, right?

Exactly why I started this thread! Haha we have a store called Wine and more that has a put together your own 6 pack deal so I can see what people reccomwnd and hopefully find and try 1 at a time.
There is a total wine n more in vegas too, the build your own 6 pack is cool to try beers but ends up being more expensive.
Not too good at describing beers but heres a list of beers I like in no particular order.
I like:
Paulaner Hefeweizen- good choice evilBOXevil
St Bernardus Witbier- Belgian wheat beer
Éphémère (Apple)- Canadian fruit beer
Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse - German wheat beer
Blue Moon - belgian-style white ale, used to try to pass of as authentic belgian but made by Coors
Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale- seasonal Dubbel beer by them
Alaskan Amber- German style brown ale made in Alaska
Alaskan White - belgian-style white ale
Red Stripe - Jamaican lager
Peroni- Italian pale lager
Wasatch White Label- belgian style white ale made in Utah
Fat Tire Amber Ale - American amber ale
Stella Artois - Belgian pale lager
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier - German wheat beer
Asylum (made by Left Coast Brewing Co)- Belgian-style Tripel. Has 11.8% alc. it is really sweet and thick, its good at first but you get tired of it fast because of the sweetness.
and of course the typical Heineken, Dos Equis, Corona Familiar ( actually imported not brewed here so it tastes better, comes in 32 oz dark bottle), and Modelo Especial.
I feel like I left some out but can't think of more right now

I haven't had a chance to try anything new..a lot going on
..although I Just found out that Oktoberfest and Subiefest are at the same place on the same day so I might do both that day lol so I'll probably be trying some new beers then :D
sounds good man. never gone to any beer festivals, I want to but when the major one was here during summer most of my friends werent 21 yet.
I also tried Dogfish Head Punkin Ale the other night, the guy at the liquor store that knows me recommended it to me. Its a seasonal beer so try it before its gone.
