best digital camera for taking car pix? or any pix? (56k NO)
hey guys/gals
i was looking into buying a digital camera but was looking for some suggestions on what to get. i definitely want to take updated pics of my tC but disposable cameras suck and are a pain in the butt to get developed.. and then put on a disc.. or emailed to me.
i would like to get something thats not hella expensive... but i do want something 5 megapixel or higher.. since 5 mp is now the standard..
im looking for high quality pics/images... great resolution.. and minimal blurryness when zooming..
looking to spend up to $500-650..
if u also have pix please post them up to see what they look like.

I have a Sony DSC-P200. It's not an SLR or anything, but at 7.2 megapixels, it packs a punch. Price is probably around $350, although I have not looked in a while.
Great battery life, good video, amazing closeups/macros, really great screen, time from hitting power button to taking a picture is 1 second. For a point-and-shoot, it's among the best.
Here are some pictures I took using it. I have scaled them down, but the clarity is still there. If you want some of the originals, pm me. Unfortunately, I don't have any macros currently, but they are amazing.

Also, I changed the title to include a 56k warning and moved the thread.

there are digital SLR's that are still price friendly for the regular consumer.... but then they're like high-end consumer (right below professional).. so they're still pretty pricy... canon digital rebel for me.
Yeah for a point and shoot it is amazing. I did cheat on the last pic, I used Autostitch (it's free) to stitch together a couple pics for a panoramic look, but I know a fisheye lens is available for that camera. Something to remember, is that you will need a large memory card. When I shoot at 7.2 megapixels, each image is just under 3 megs.
Here is a really great review:

And more pics I found:

oh those cannon digital rebels are so nice!
but right now I am using an HP735 photosmart I got for like $100 a year and a half ago. only 3.2 MP but the pix are pretty good and it has a good zoom/effects to it for similar priced cameras of that time
all my pics are taken with this camera and it takes decent video. the pics it takes are really good.
for the normal person 5 mp is a lot. 3 to 4 should be more than enough for normal use, web posting and regular prints.

I have this camera right now but it doesn't feel as good as it should with the almost $400
pricetag. The videos that this thing takes are awesome and would give a economy camcorder a run for its money. It serves its purpose as a point and shoot but when I want to take something that looks kinda professional I just can seem to do it. I can't find where to adjust the shutter speed in this thing. Anyone with pointers are welcome.

two of my favorite pictues i took with this thing.
