Default Bought a Valentine 1!

So I bought what is claimed to be the best, absolute best radar detector money can buy, aside from spending $1000+ for a scrambler/jammer.... I researched for a while and went on forums such as the gumball3000 one where I know the members have much faster cars than I can even dream of owning. For those of you who are familiar with this product, or any top of the line$$$ detecor, is this legit or did I waste money? I would like to think that it was money well spent! I mean it's the only one with directional technology, and again it's used by many of the gumball3000 participants!

meh, so they have arrows to point to where the radar is coming from. whoo!

i like the new passport model that has gps so it memorizes places where you get false alarms and starts ignoring them so you will hopefully only pick up real police radar speed traps.

so anyway, you didn't waste your money really, but honestly that directional arrow display doesn't really make me think it is the better detector. i have the passport x50 which is also considered by many to be the best detector. so long as it goes off in time for me to slow down, that is all i need, i don't need to know where it is coming from, just that it is there.

The point of the arrows is to advise you if you should slow down, or to keep speeding on. That's what the whole point is. I think it's rather clever, and it's a hell of a sales pitch to say "become a professional speeder".... I mean why are you speeding in the first place besides having a heavy foot?

i'm aware of that, but really if you know how to read the radar signals strength and examine the road ahead of you, you can do just fine without arrows.

My Dad is a truck driver, so i have been exposed to MANY brands of radar detectors and the V1 is by far the best I've ever seen/used.

If I still drove like I did many years ago (***** to wall, always late), I would own a V1, but now, I just leave earlier and get to most places 15 minutes before I'm scheduled.

i bought the v1 cause im 16 and have 4 violations ha ha its awesome even though im way to afriad to speed now but the reason why its better is cause they will upgrade it everyyear for only 50$ so u will never be outdated! V1 is the best buy the escort if u want to be outdated in a year

and i bet the police will park in those spots it saves as false spots.

they would also have to match the frequency (k, ka, and x band) and probably intensity of the reoccuring signal.

good buy...just becareful of laser as it hardly works...newer cars also use laser for cruise control and i got LOTS of falses when i used to use my password 8500x50. i honestly dont rock a radar detector anymore...i should but really most cops anymore use laser where im at or where i try to speed. if you want to get protected from that get a zr3 shifter or another brand laser shifter..
