Heheheheh... Budsmoke, lot of those old 'phones operated in "local battery mode" and had three "No. 6" 1.5V dry cells inside, and later, more compact phones had a box of No.6 dry cell batteries outside where the 'drop wires' came into the house.

The batteries generally lasted a year or more... :D

Most phones (ALL of mine) indicate when they are fully charged. It's best for the batteries not to leave them connected to the charger for very long after they've reached full charge. Most of the charging circuits aren't all that smart, and will over charge the batteries.

I have a LG 9800 that I got when they first came out in Nov. of 05. Even being close to two years old I still can go at least 6 days without a charge and heavy use.

When I first bought it I could go 12-15. Including the usualy 30-40 texts a day and a handful of calls.

My advice, don't buy some p.o.s. like a Motorola, esp. the Razr.

Sanyo, LG, and Samsung tend to make the best phones as far as quality goes.

My Razr will die a horrible death at the end of this month, when my contract is up.

If it involves high end explosives or construction equipment, I'll post video.

As much fun as that might be, if you really don't need it anymore, another option is this.

My iPhone is on day four. That's day four of web browsing, youtube, music, and of course, calls.

That is a very good program, 13edge, and if folks aren't sure about http://www.cellphonesforlife.org/ (they are quite legit!), many areas have local service organizations and even churches that have similar programs to get no longer needed cellphones into the hands of people where they can make a life or death difference.

One of our local Scion clubs has even done drives for old phones.
