indoor or outdoor carshow
there are rules for both (battery hooked up vs not)
If the arena will let you leave your battery hooked up then you can use a battery charger
if the arena requires your battery to be unhooked
then you have to buy a transformer
you can get away with a battery charger if only lights are staying on, but you cant use your audio, it will suck too much power.

Most people just have a power converter, and then you have to pay extra for electricity. Then they will run a power wire over to your location, and you plug that into the converter. Then you hook it up to the battery terminals. That way, your battery isn't actually connected (doesn't get drained) and you can still run all your stuff.

buy a cheap battery, put that in and use it during the show..... then return it to where you bought it the next day and tell them the damn battery doesnt have a charge.. make a scene. and get your money back.....

I wish the shows out here were like that. If we want to run anything, we have to pay extra for a power hook up. And it's about $30 - $50, depending on the show. And then, you still have to have your own power inverter.
