Which one would you go with?
Price difference is $100.

i had a 17" HP laptop and it was definitely a desktop replacement, not easy to carry around and pretty bulky with the full keyboard (see numpad). but it did pack a punch with the big video card and hefty memory.
if you want portability get the smaller HP, if it stays at home mostly then go for the Gateway.
i prefer Macs alltogether =p

Definitely the HP! Gateways typically SUCK!!!
You also might consider browsing through Dell's website and piece out a laptop that is similar in specs to these two and see how the price comes out. Sometimes Dell has some reasonable deals on Dell.com.

lol I actually sell both computers at Best Buy and you might wanna go for the HP, the gateway is a nice concept but it lacks in performance in comparison to the HP, plus when the HP goes on sale its 999.99.
The only downside to the HP is the top of the computer looks like it is scratched (the funky design)
