comp help plz
ok, problem is, when i play decent-good game on my pc, warcraft3, halflife2 etc... after a few mins, my motherboard starts beeping. I've searched online and others who had the same problem said it was the powersupply not providing enough power to the agp video card. So... i gues i'll get a new powersupply, but im not exaclty sure what to get. Is it possible to get a powersupply that would provide 2 much power and short out anything? Im a newb when it comes to electricity. any suggestions?
If you're looking into replacing the power supply on your computer you can't "overpower" the computer. The only thing you can do is "underpower" the computer which you think might be the case right now. I would suggest going with a brand name power supply like Antec, Thermaltake, etc. If you dont mind putting down the cash, get a PC Power & Cooling power supply. Theyve been rated #1 by many PC magazines. Personally I'm running a SilverStone 600watt power supply. For your application I would recommend getting a 400-450watt. That should be sufficient enough for most systems. The only time you would really get a bigger power supply is when you actually kenw what was in your computer. Hope this helps -Rich
oohh.. hmmm.... i wonder if thats what my problem is.... had to replace my mother board recently as the bios crashed while updating.. (yes i know should have had bios on back up just incase..)... so go out and buy new board... has AGP slot on it.... replace motherboard... hook up all (i'm 99% sure) power cords ect.... computer runs...surfs the net etc... but when i go and try to play BF2 Special forces.. (have yet to try straight BF2) it loads up... get as far as to start loading the map to play on and my 'puter beeps and reboots itself...
would that be because i may have missed a power connection to the AGP card?? or something else??? everything else on my PC seems to work no prob... and prior to motherboard crash was able to play BF2 no prob...
if any1 has any ideas/help i'd appreciate it... as im goin thru BF2 withdrawls...
**edit** power supply is 500watt..so should be more than enuff
