really it's that kind of ignorance that makes your opinions worthless.

the way you put it

injecting heroin junkie = pot head
crack smoker = stoner
ragin alcoholic = weed smoker

all drugs are not even close to the same.
pot is less harmful to our society than alcohol or sober driving.

My position on this is as follows:

I voted NO to legalizing marijuana due to the fact that the people who sell marijuana are making a lot of money on it (due to the fact of its demand and its non-legal status). Anytime a "drug" or product of high demand is harder to find (basic supply and demand of economics) the procucts price will increase.

Now a lot of people will say this is exactly why marijuana should be legalized, to stop the people making all the money off of it so that way they will vanish...not so. If marijuana is legalized, the price of marijuana will drop considerably, making it a possible household product as much as aspirin.

All of the dealers and distributors of marijuana WILL lose money however, once a person is situated to a certain lifestyle (having a good amount of money all the time) they rarely want to give that lifestyle up. Therefore, they will move on to the next illegal prolification available to maintain their economic status.

And I cannot forsee making any other drug illegal. I just wonder why so many people want to disassociate marijuana from other illegal controlled substances. Just becuase it is widely used (meth being the US's #1 used controlled substance) does not legitimize it's legality, medical purposes or otherwise.

One does not follow the other.

Here's the difference: Murder and rape automatically include the perp doing something to someone else. IOW, these are activities that by definition take someone else's rights away.

Do you think all or most murders and rapes happen because someone is on drugs? If so, then you must have passed your D.A.R.E. propaganda training with flying colors. People that are going to murder and rape aren't exactly concerned with laws, they are breaking some biggies already. Another fact, if everyone or even a small fraction of people were induced into murder and rape by ingesting drugs, then this world would be seeing 10 or even 1000x more of those a day. There are literally MILLIONS of people that get high EVERY DAY, and all but a small fraction of them do ANYTHING to get noticed.

Uhm, ok, but what about this: if it becomes legal, farmers now will have another crop to grow, thus flooding the market with pot. Not only that, the only reason the price is as high as it is now, is because it is illegal: limited crops, lots of money spent hiding, lots of money to protect it, lots of money to get it across the borders, plus lots of money in their pockets to pay for their lifestyle and to justify their risks.

ok, so you up the risk for growing pot. When you add risk, you add violence, and people willing to do worse things to get what they want.

so, you're saying if it was cheaper, more people would use? People who choose to use drugs, use drugs. If you make weed so expensive, people turn to alcohol, that will cause much more problems.

so you think once pot is too expensive for dealers to make money on it, you'll have them turn to selling crack? not a good swap.

crack, heroin, meth, all are much more addicting, but you have alot less addicts of those than pot, and it's for a reason. most people like myself, find pot less intoxicating than alcohol. i also don't like to wake up with hangovers or vomiting.

marijuana doesnt even contain a chemical that causes addiction, addiction when it comes to pot is all in the mind of the user, the need to get high. tobacco, cocaine, meth, ecstacy, and other hard drugs break down the body when there is an extended break in between doses.

you'd be fiending for some blow for weeks after youve had a coke binge rather than fiending for more weed the day after an ounce to the face

I don't and never have smoked it, but I still say legalize it. One because its too impowering. As many have said its all about supply and demand. So the more there is the lower the price would be. Not only that if it was legal grow it yourself. Another reason has also been mentioned. The alcohol thing. I mean how can alcohol be legal with as many deaths, property damage, bodily harm that it has caused.

I can't wait till I see the day when the headline reads "Hit on the head of the Jack Daniels family thwarted, Police say the Jim Beam family was behind it."

Its sad. A guy I used to go to school with got killed a couple weeks ago over drug money. He was shot 13 times...I had a cousin killed over drugs, ran over by a car, knocked him out his shoes...

Tobacco is a DRUG, pain killers are DRUGS, Alcohol is a DRUG. So if a drunk person or a person smoking a cig came up to you, you would shoot them?

People smoking cigs in cars are doing drugs and driving, shoot them all too.

Only time ive seen or delt with people smoking marijuana and driving is the retarted kids my age (17 years old) that smoke weed to sit and laugh all day they drive like retards and dont pay attention.

If youve never smoked weed before then you dont know that when you are high, or stoned, you have no mind set to hurt anyone, shoot something/someone or anything like that.

Your choice to smoke weed should be decided on your self and your opinion on it, and your research. Also I think when it is legalized in the future the problem with people growing it and etc like that.

^How many people do you know grow their own tobacco and brew their own beer? Don't worry, ill wait.

Get rid of beer and tobacco and legalize marijuana.
i see all sorts of people smoking weed and driving almost daily as well as know way too many people who do so. ranging in age from 17 to 35.
