decisions... decisions... decisions...
hello to all and thank you for taking a look here, for your opinions, advice and ideas.
i am a bartender here in houston, tx, and recently i have thought about getting a 2nd job just to be able to bring more money in... at the bar i make really good money but it gets boring during the week... so i have looked all over and have thought about it quite a bit and have decided that i a want to work in a bike shop, be it at the local after market or at the harley dealership... so i have put my app in at both places and now am waiting for the dealership to open up the new location or this local shop to pick me up (this place is ideal cause they are right down the street, and they don't work weekends at all... thats all i work as a bartender) so after hanging there for a few weeks, getting to know the guys better, long discussions about bikes... the itch is coming back... i want one...
it first started out that i wanted a harley but those are not cheap the two i want are rather expensive
they are the night train:

priced at $16,000
and the other is the street bob:

priced at $14,000
yes i like the american iron i DO NOT LIKE the crotch rockets... i watch ebay... but really harleys dont go down in price much... so i have been asking and all of them have built their own and they have all told me building is better than buying a bike for a multitude of reasons: cheaper, you make it how you want it, ect, ect... so now i have been looking into building one... and holy **** it is cheap!!! i can have a VERY nice bike for just over $8000 they all seem to like different frames but one they all respect is sucker punch sally so looking on that site i found the frame i want the meathook that frame is awesome and really cheap... also looking into motors most are cheap i can go w a hd 80" for just over $2000, or a s&s 96" for about $3000, a baker kicker (kick start tranny) will run about $3000 then all i need is various parts and such (gas tank, controls, a springer front end, and electrics) as far as the paint i was thinking of taking it to get coated with truck bed liner (line-x)
so here where your help comes in i have my tC and a few plans for modding (finish up my audio, coilovers, rims, and a few other things) with all the money i spend on mods for the tC i could have enough to outright buy all the bike components cause the way i figure my numbers the tC completely done is about $7000 away from finish and at that point i might as well put it into the bike fund... yeah i know that modding is buying piece by piece but most of the stuff is big amounts ($2000 for coils, $2000 for rims, and after all the small stuff that comes to another $3000 or $4000) so i figure if i continue to save why put it into my car when i could put it into a bike that will be done after $8000 at most.
i like the tC but i wanted a bike but my wife wanted a car when we bought the tC... and now she has her own car and i want the bike again... i enjoy the tC but i have a feeling id enjoy the bike more... i'd use it more too if i get in at the local shop and i could ride downtown and just use the tC for weather-y days... what do you think??? mod the car or save for the bike??? its an 05 tC, 50k on the odo, and 3 years left on the note. if i do the bike i could give the tC a break and working at a bike shop it would be easier to keep up the bike. well thank you for reading, your ideas, opinoins, blah dont forget to vote and voice yourself
btw the lone star rally is happening this weekend so the wife and i will be doing that so yeah
