He's "all about the Jesus" for what I consider the right reason; community. He sees and understands the power that a church has especially in the black communities, and that's where his grassroots efforts lie. I'm ok with that.

He doesn't seem to be about fundamentalism with all of it's medeivel drival.

He grew up a rich white kid in hawaii going to an uppercrust private school all through high school, then columbia and harvard. It seems his blck father died when he was 2.

his "grassroots" are no-where near black communities. Another reason why Hillary is going to get more black votes than he will.

His dad and mom divorced at that time.

"Obama writes that his religious convictions formed during his twenties, when, as a community organizer working with local churches, he came to understand "the power of the African American religious tradition to spur social change"

You don't have to come from underprividlege to be a part of a grassroots movement. I was only saying that from I can tell, he's more enthralled with the power of the community churches to enact social change than he is with daming sinners to hell and teaching abstinence only.

Again, it's only my impressions, and not really founded in anything concrete.

well it seems he hadn't seen his dad since he was 2 from that article. I'm not saying he wouldn't be better than hillary, i just don't see him winning even the dem. primary.

I hear someone is making a documentary about Hilary (negative aspect). Haven't looked into it as I'm out the door here any minute. Anyone heard about this? What does everyone here have against her. I know the general notion is that she is a crazy liberal too far left on the spectrum. Honestly, she ran the country for Bill 1992-2000 and we saw some pretty good years if I recall.

She should use the same slogan Bill and Al used for their 1992 campaign. "Happy times are here again."

cuz, in lamens terms, hillary was a lawyer, who did some very questionable land deals with some pals even before her hubby was even a governor. then for whatever reason, HER OWN FIRM prosecuted her and then, like everyone saw coming, she was found not guilty. Did her own firm not go after her as much as they should have? duh.

meh. id still vote for hillary. She at least has a brain and can always refer to bill for advice. the first 8 clinton years were nice, the 2nd i would imagine has potential to be the same. (not including the mess this president has left us). And id like to see our first, first man

That's part of it, but let's face it, if she had a ***** it wouldn't have been a big deal. I truelly believe that there are just a bunch of bubbas, extreme alpha males, and a bunch of soccer moms and grandmas that have a "she don't know her place" mentality.

I think Gore has this thing all the way, after all he has already been elected once. Maybe this time someones connected daddy wont buy off the election and make us all pay dearly for the next term. There is a lot of this and that going on about Hillary and Obama, but the fact of the matter is this, regardless of political platform obama is black and hillary is a woman. This country is not ready or willing to elect either. At the end of the day that is just how it is.

If anyone other than Gore wins I am moving to Germany or back home to Italy to laugh with the rest of the europeans at how a$$ backwards this country is.

Just had a talk with my mom today who is reading Obama's book. In it, he mentions that whilst growing up, he had the habit of always trying to please everyone. He would always try his best to say what people wanted to hear, what was expected of him.
Now looking back at his speeches, it appears he hasn't really changed.

I also want to see Hilary run this country. It's getting tiresome being the 'dumbest' country in the world (with the current president). We need a smart figure head to represent us.
