Yeah. Sort of like taking out dents in a fender with a baseball bat...
My favorite general purpose iron is the good old Cooper/Weller WPA2. Sadly, they don't even make the metal boxed "kit" with the WPA2 any more. For fine work I have a little British made 12W micro iron about the size of a PaperMate ballpoint... Only problem with it is they are no longer made, and I can't even get any more replacement tips.
