that clip from Jesus camp sent chills down my spine. to think that these kids are being brainwashed to hate all that they are told is "different" scares the hell out of me.

you can talk about G-d this and G-d that, but never does any document say the name JESUS. Last time i checked Jesus was the son of G-d. G-d is the G-d of people. That's right, even though i may be Jewish, my G-d and your G-d are the same. Who you choose to believe in is your prerogative, but keep it to yourself and don't try and bastardize me for being "different" because if you look in the mirror we are all the same. Human is my religion. Human is my race. Human is my sexual preference. Human is human and if you cant see that, then I am truly sorry.

It's understandable... everyone gets truly passionate about what they believe in. It is the mark of a skilled debater to not let passions override the use of logic... as it is usually the person who goes to personal insults who has no argument.

On the topic,
To draw upon an analogy (that I just made up)...
You've got to throw fuel into the fire, to get the train moving.

As I've said, I'm a card-carrying member of the "vast right-wing conspiracy"... and yet, I don't see a single thing wrong with allowing gays to marry. Perhaps it's because I'm not scared of them. Perhaps I actually practice the christian values of tolerance, and am doing my best to seek understanding.

We can only fear things we don't control. In attempting to "control" them through the issues, the less-informed religious is attempting to address their fear.

I think it's also an interesting point that this ban came out of one of the most liberal states in the Nation. I'd expect it from Arkansas or Alabama, but not the "left coast."

 

I've been keeping an eye on it. So far, there hasn't been any mudslinging. I'm going to keep it open, but it's up to you guys to keep it clean and friendly.
