The Fall-out from Imus' comments...
So because of the Imus incident on the radio, there will only be 49 contestants in the Miss Black America Contest this year because no one wants to wear the banner that
says,
IDAHO.
says,
IDAHO.

Yeah in regards to blacks and other minorities/women getting jobs and into colleges simply because they are black/minority/women it needs to stop. I think all the middle class white males should get together and hold a protest for equality.
its not just with imus. athough i do think that what happened to imus is wrong. its everywhere in the usa. our country has become a nation of pu$$ies. people now a days go out of there way to try and get offended by something someone else says. look at what happened last chris... ...i mean last holiday season.(sorry, i almost said the "c" word
) someone tried to sue an airport because it didnt have haunaka displays up. i have seen plenty of black comedians make fun of white people, or "crackers" as they call us, for years and nobody says anything. but thats ok, cause thats the way it should be. freedom of speech right??? if you dont like what imus is saying then dont listen to him. i know i dont. as for this double standard in america, i think it is B.S. if you are black you can pretty much say whatever you want about white people and thats accepted. but if you are white then any comment, or joke you make about any other race but your own will be condemed as racist remarks. people just need to learn to take a joke, and grow some thicker skin. one last thing. jessie jackson, and al sharpton need to stop inventing this idea of some big racial war in our country. its not like this is alabama in the 1930's. black people are not limited in anyway now. they can do anything a white person can do. i think that jessie jackson, and al sharpton try and create racial tention to keep themselves employed, and in the news. they should try to battel the popular "gangster/drug dealer" image that is portrayed to young black men. but its just easier to call imus a racist.

The average age of a CEO is 56 do you think they still remember what they were taught in high school about what kind of people you want to hire to do a good job?

really, making excuses like that, just make the whole argument seem like racism won't ever go away, because it was invented in the first place.

My dad is a 56 year old white executive and three or four of his fellow execs are black. Sorry, your premise is inherintly flawed.
Oh yeah, we also have a black man campaigning for the presidency.

Strom Thruman just died recently. This guy was campaigning against equal rights and held a position of power just a few years ago.
David Duke was a govenor just a few years ago.
I worked for a guy 3 years ago that owns a black lab named Reggin.
Things are getting better and they are headed in the right direction, but to throw down the blanket statement that all is well now is simply flat out wrong. It is going to take several generations for the racist blowhards to completely marginalize themselves out of society. (they're never going away completely)
My only problem with Affirmative Action is that it needs to change from color focus to address focus since what public school you go to is 100% based off of address (at least until the progressives take over and allow school choice). Presently it assumes that all black kids grow under priviledge and all white kids grow up like the Beave.
BTW, it helps to look at the Imus situation as if he is a commisioned sales person. He's in charge of selling ad space by providing entertainment for people to listen to. If he alienates his sponsors by his free speech, then CBS has every right to fire him just as if he was selling Xerox machines and consistently missing quota.

Allowing people to choose their high school as they wish is a problem in itself.
This will foster some schools turning into very rich schools and others very poor. How? Sports and boosters.
It is illegal now to transport kids to different schools in the manner that you are talking because it there are schools that are trying to get the best athletes in the state in their public school, which will eventually bring their school more noteriety and more money.
Better sports = more students = better teachers = more students = more opportunties for recruiting and money from many resources.
I understand what you are saying, but it is very flawed.

Just one, that's all I ask.
Let me give you an example of a country that allows school choice: Holland. John Stossel did a story about our education not too long ago where he took kids from an average Dutch school classroom and pitted them against gifted and talented kids from one of the best schools in Jersey (Jersey, as a state, is one of the top ranked states for education in this country) and you know what happened? The average Dutch kids whipped the gifted and talented kids. Our G&T kids averaged about 65 on the exam, and the average Dutch kids averaged 93.
What really happens when you introduce competition to the mix is that schools are quicker to eliminate poorly performing teachers and poorly implemented teaching techniques. This is one of the main reasons Charter Schools do so well, they have to.
i agree that cbs has every right to hire or fire whoever they choose, and for whatever reason. however i dont like the fact that he was fired because of a bad joke he made. after all he was a shock jock. if you want to hear some really racial jokes, all you have to do is watch def comedy jam, or listen to a couple episodes of the tom joyner morning show. you dont hear anyone calling for chris rock's job when he says stuff like "cracker a$$ cracker" in his comedy routine. and like i said before people should be able to make jokes without having abunch of people that are trying to be offended, demand they be fired.
