The Fall-out from Imus' comments...
He wasn't fired for the comments, per se, he was fired because his sponsors were pulling out or threatening to pull out. And when I say "pull out", I don't simply mean for his show, some were looking into pulling out of CBS altogehter. No sponsors = no money. He had to go.
Chris Rock is paid to say those things. If his audience didn't respond well, he wouldn't be in the position he's in today. Have you ever watched one of his HBO shows? You know why they fail? Because he can't simply be C Rock. He meters his comments and they come off with less bight, and he isn't as funny, and that's why his shows don't last long. HBO is afraid to let him loose on those talk shows, and they fail. When he does a stand up routine it's different. He gets paid by the audience that pays $60/ticket to see him (and they know what to expect), and HBO asks to film it for their lineup and pays him more. There's a difference.
And yes, there are white comedians that go the other way with it, see: Ralphie. Not as many, don't get me wrong, but there are some out there. The reason I don't like much of Def Comedy Jam is because it's the same racial jokes, one right after another and there's little to no originality, and that's why they stay on Def Comedy Jam. Chris broke out and blew up because he mixes it up with non-racial jokes and tells both sides of the racial story.

scionofPCFL, we all know that America doesn't rank very high in test scores, but sports is the major focus in all high schools and colleges across America that are competetive.
And you're changing the conversation. I was talking about your scenario of schools being competetive, not schools being a monopoly. Schools in America being competetive is almost completely rooted in how well their sports programs are.
Under your want of choosing which school you go to you will get the schools with the best teams getting the best athletes, best teachers, and best students due to success of those teams.
Not necessarily the best test scores in the world, which you threw out there in the middle of nowhere.
And besides, you confirmed my response already though you don't realize it. Look at your closing comment and that agrees with everything I was saying.

The average age of a CEO is 56 do you think they still remember what they were taught in high school about what kind of people you want to hire to do a good job?
At no point did I say everyone as you insinuated.
