I completely understand your situation C. But my problem is with my fiance. He knows nothing about cars and quite frankly he hates them. He'd rather take the bus. Its not the fact that he gives me a hard time for spending crazy amounts of money on it, but he doesn't support what I'm doing. He doesn't want to go to car shows. Everytime I do a new mod he just shrugs and acts like he doesn't even care. Usually its the other way around. LOL

If they can't appreciate you for who you are then I don't think they are worth your time. Would you put up with that poop from anyone else? No. I don't think blood is a good enough excuse to treat anyone like that.

I'm in the same boat as you. Besides the money I've put forth to pay for the car, heres what all I have spent 7,815 bucks into my car rougly, and my mom thinks I'm a flat stupid idiot because "You'll never get ANY of that back!!" yada yada yada... I'm young I don't care. My car shows my personallity and it's a piece of ME! Who cares what others think, as long as I like it, thats all that matters and some people in the world don't care or have any respect towards it.

Hey C.

Sorry to hear about the negative feedback from your family...... I get the same from a select few people but you got to just let it roll of your back.....Some people dont get it and never will but they are family and sometimes you just have to tell them how you really feel (Rationally) and if the still make fun....then make fun back and walk out
BTW your rims look gorgeous......throw them on your ride and smile you deserve it!

A guy that hates cars....what has the world come too?
My GF gives me crap sometimes....she is into cars and mild mods for her tC.....but when she starts in with all that watsing money and time with them......I tell her..."If it wasnt for these damn Scions...You and I would have never met"......Aw...Wins every time, and I get to continue to mod my car...its just I have to balance it out and mod hers too now..

Don't write your family off, just don't try to interest them in what you like.... different people desire different things.....

Things that are easy to "hide" I don't mention but rims and lip kit will be hard to not notice so I thought I'd give my mom a shot with a heads up...
obviously it didn't work out

i hear ya C, evrtime i do anything to the box i get chewed out by my mom, and my dad tells me "dont f**k it up"
I am barely allowed to leave the house, hence why I am rarely at meets or shows. i get sh*t for working on ym friend's cars or helping them out.
I just dont bother with what they say, not a single person in my family has ever supported me and i have a large family, but i dont care.

What is family if not people who love you for who you are? Explain to them that you would love them if they had a hobby you disagreed with and it hurts you that it isn't reciprocated.

My cousin went out and got him a fairly fixed up Prelude and then from that point on, thought he was the sh*t... Now he's getting mad because even though his car is faster, everyone else likes mine better, and before I got my tC, he had the best car out of the family. My cousin is not supporting me much anymore as well. I know what it feels like too.

I know how it is as well in your situation and mine since its pretty much the same exact situation with my mom and my sister's telling me you spend too much time and money on your car think about the future etc blah blah blah. All comes down to it should make u happy for more then 5 min, it makes you happy in general, jewlery, whats there with jewlery it looks good thats all it does, it wont save your life( brakes, tires) it wont get you from point a to point b, it looks great yea, but so do rims and everyone would see them unlike jewlery when your driving in your car.

I try to make upgrades as things in my car wear out like tires brakes etc just to help along the fact that Im modding and doing general maintenance as well. They want whats best for you but unfortunately they are not you and they do not know what makes you happy. Keep on donig what you want to and hopefully they will come to understand it makes you happy.

Mom/dad, bf/gf and cousins in general are ok to handle. But when literally yr half (twin) looks down upon you because of what you love that's what gets to me. Like when i was in college and failing some classes she looked at me and said "you are a failure" this hurts just as bad.

Understood about the twin, it seems that all the compassion went to just one of you....

She seems to be a sad lonely girl.
