Default GM "The Drive" Experience in Vegas

I was in Vegas for business and decided to try this entertainment event held at a temporary track in a lot across from the Sahara Casino/Hotel. It's $10 for two drives and passengers can ride in as many cars and trucks for free!

For $10, I got to drive the Hummer H2 through an offroad course with rocks, logs, and STEEP inclines and hills. It was awesome seeing the Hummer just rumble and climb through all the obstacles. I always thought that the H2 can't do heavy off-roading but after that time, I changed my mind completely. Throughout the course, my confidence waned before reaching the limit of the car. People, the Hummer H2 is an awesome offroading machine! It's just that no one* wants to do it in the $50K car.
*The instructor told me that only 10% of H2 customers know of it's off-roading ability and only 10% out of that group actually take it to the trails.

I had a friend with me so I couldn't drive the Corvette(there is an instructor with you at all times and the car is a two-seater). My friend doesn't have a license so she couldn't drive at the event. But I opted for a four-seater instead in the STS-V.
469HP V8 in a big luxury sedan Damn that thing has power! The car is very stable through sharp turns but it feels so effortless and composed that even my passenger didn't think much of it's steering and handling. The steering is light so road feel is minimal and yet the car can slalom very well. While it's not BMW sharp, the car is very capable.

If you end up in Vegas with a bit of time, give it a try. They have Corvettes, Solstices, CTS-Vs, and off-road vehicles(there are other GM cars as well). For $10 bucks, it's great fun.

Oh, and don't drink before the event since they do a breathalyzer test on you.

Yet another reason why I'm a little upset that I'm not going down there this weekend. I was originally supposed to meet some friends for the Arena Bowl (Arean Football Championships), but a little bit of miscommunication and lack of follow ups lead to me not going.

I've already driven an H2, which was indeed a nice ride, but i'd like to get the opportunity to really see what it and the other cars are capable of. Hopefully, if they are still doing that the next time I go down, I'll be sure to check it out.

Good find TrafficinLA!
