Default Goodbye Scionlife

Well, I have had enough. Scionlife was a good site for the run I was in it, alot of knowledgable people, however, there is alot of blind ignorance too.

I began to realize this site was becoming a waste of time for me, refreshing the recent posts section, just waiting to see the new this or comment on that. I ended up spending about 2-3 hours a day and sometimes more arguing, explaining, etc... Now I can really say, I have had enough.

My only suggestion to the rest of the Scionlife population? Just be friends. We all have a common connection between us, Scions. These cars have been the backbone of this forum, an escape from the norm, a free ticket to the fun side of cars and not just A-B beaters.

There has been many great engineers, many low haters, and many normal people that have left this forum because of all the aggression, or hatred towards new and odd ideas, also from testing old theories and trying to prove and tell truth and not hearsay.

I am adding myself to the list. One can only take so much flame before they get burned, I for one am burned out on scionlife. Only time will tell were we all end up.

Have fun everyone, I am going to go to a place long forgotten in the internet generation, outside.

Peace - Jeff "Sly_dawg19"

Since I think it was me that you just recently accused of bringing down the site... what is it that you would propose the mods do to me?

What other forms of cencorship do you encourage in an off-topic environment? Would that extend to calling people "dicks" and such?

Just curious on your stance... I'm so confused.

i saw that photoshoot post.. it's currently in hiding without much possibility of it coming back.

things are becoming too dramatic.. and sometimes the only way to fight fire is with fire... it's not just about expressing opinion.. but knowing how to do so tactfully.

for me.... don't take things too serious here.
but i can agree things have changed... and not in a good way.

brakes are currently being fixed... it's taking way too long though...

Take a good look at what happened this week at VA Tech.
Gotta stop all this bickering and hatred - especially towards people we don't really "know"
I mean, WTF is up with so many angry people?
Look what one ____ed-off nutbag (that had everything) did to so many people.

Give it up, and if you can't be civil - civil does include educated debate - then do leave.

I love how a lot of people are quick to complain, but never do anything to fix the problem. More than half the people upset are the ones who feed the drama.

I honestly believe the only way to filter out the idiots is to make the forums have a one time sign up fee, and get more strict on the ban hammer.

On the other hand you gotta look back and realize that this is only the internet. Thank god for bBsquad though, best xB forum around now a days.

If the powers that be really want to fix things than I think it would help if some new Super Mods and Mini Mods were brought in.

Obviously the way things have been going aren't working so I say out with the old and in with the new. There are way too many mods and super mods who are too biased either towards a company or a club to be objective or who are jerks themselves. Start swapping them out periodically, it certainly couldn't hurt.

Just putting in my 2 cents.

To go further with this...

I think that supermods need to be given rules to what they can and cannot do and a code of conduct that they must adhere to. There should not be any one mod or supermod given the absolute authority to ban, edit threads and such unless there was an immediate need for it, like personal information or an obscene picture being posted.

These set of rules should be made public so we know that the mods are kept in line and not just out there throwing their powers around and threatening people left and right for selfish reasons that aren't for the good of the site.

If there is a mod that can't behave represent themselves in such a way that a person with authority should or they can't treat every situation fairly and unbiased, they should have the responsibility taken away from them and another person, preferably nominated from SL as a whole, should take their place.

As it's been explained to me, a supermod can do anything they please and not have to answer to anybody before they ban you. There are mods that threaten banning for saying things they don't agree with. That is scary. Anyone reading this would be wise to get the email address of someone you know on SL so that you can tell them if you were ever unfairly banned, and hopefully they can contact a different mod or something. Once you're gone, I assume you can't come back and fight for what is right.

i would have to agree with slydog, but for now im not going anywhere but i know where he is coming from, i understand, and its easy to see just from the first few posts what hes talking about, there is way to much fighting and bashing of others and what they do and dont do, will we ever all just get along? i dout it and the same thing will continue with no end in site, i guess its just human nature

I think Super Mods have to vote to ban someone. Otherwise I would have been banned before and Darren would have been banned like 6 times.....lol.

I would hope so but that is not what I was explained when I specifically asked about it.

I haven't seen anybody banned before but I've sure seen one mod threaten it over and over and over again.
