i saw that last night......died lauging, i remember back in my law enforcment days seeing that done in person, what usually happened was the guy they were tasing crapped his pants or ____ed himself. BTW those are now legal in some states to carry as a civilian. I may pick one up, they are about as thought provoking as pulling out a pistol.
I have used a stun gun on someone before while trying to get control of them.

fortunate for the guy and police that their department are using taser guns, if not.... another law suit will come up

tasers are part of the esclation of force...

verbal commands, physical retention, impact weapons, less lethal (tasers or beanbags) and last if all else fails deadly force, however you can bypass all that and go straight to deadly force if you feel you life is in danger...ie suspect has a weapon like edged blade or large impact weapon such as a baseball bat....... i have been in two shooting, and one was justified, the other guy just shot up my car real good and then gave up. but he got his **** beat down......he then died in jail due to a heart attack......
