Alright, so my dad was installing some itunes update on his Dell. He restarts it, and it wont get past this blank screen. Itll give the Dell screen, but then just show a blank, black screen. It responds to mouse movement, but it wont respond to any keys or left or right click on the mouse.

ANY ideas?

 

So ir'a just a black screen, no mouse? Or can you see the pointer?

When that happened to me on my old gaming pc after installing stuff, I just restarted it, go into safe mode and roll back the video driver if possible.

Or perhaps go into safemode and uninstall itunes, then reboot normally?


I'd have to be there and tinker with it, lol. I usually luck out and fix stuff after lots of troubleshooting.

 

Yeah, i can see the pointer and i can move it and stuff.
And ive restarted it 3 times and it gives no option to run in safe mode?

Its on Vista BTW

 

keep hitting f10 or f12 right after turning it on to start in safe mode ( i forget which one it is). Then try reseting the computer to a previous date.

Vista definitely sucks. I just wasted 2 hours of my life trying to get my internet to work after suddenly crashing for no reason.

Then I log out of my username and log into my girlfriends, and it works? Then I log off hers, back into mine, and the problems solved.
