Default Help from Gamers...DS lite..is it worth it?

Arite all you gamers out there, I need your help! My anniversary with my gf is comin up in a couple of weeks, and she's been planning on getting us some DS lites with some RS4 chips (I think thats what they're called). Anyway, after asking many of her friends, she's come to realize that many of them have said its super fun, BUT they don't play it any more, which leads us to the dilmena...is it worth buying if so many people don't even play it any more? Also...what are some of the best games currently out for the DS, besides Mariocart and Zelda? Any and all input is welcome, thanks guys!

if she wants it, get it for her.

its only like 200 bux, it will make her happy, what she does with it afterwards is not your problem, or thats how i would see it.

I play mine all the time. It ends up on the charger just about dead at least twice a week. Hell, I bring it to work and play it. The games I have been hooked on lately are the new zelda, the brain age games, tetris, puzzlequest and castevania.

I had a DS when they first came out and ended up selling it on ebay a couple months later. They're fun but if you're a serious gamer its just not going to be for you. If you're real casual about it, it'll be a great toy, but if you're looking for gameplay with depth, I'd recommen getting a PSP.

I take my brother's and play his when he's not playing it. He used to play it a lot, now it's me who is playing it. I think it's worth it's money if it's shared between two people. That way, when one person isn't playing it, the other can...
I recommend Brain Age. That's the game that I'm addicted to, right now... =P

i liked it because my SP got lost(i loved that lil guy...) and i could play my old games on it. but the NEW games are pretty weak. in all honestly, tetris? i play that on my phone! i miss the good games like advanced wars (before it went on gamecube) and final fantacy tactics! i lost it at like 184 hours on it...

its not for the hardcore gamers.

BUT i cant support the PSP which i also had (and was five finger discounted from my hotel room). sure, its pretty. yes, it has wifi surfing ability. no, there are no games for it! i mean, when u see in the paper. they show a huge selection of games, yet you would buy maybe 1 of those! its disapointing, but stay away from both. get a book, save yourself the dissapointment. or a DS, i guess.

*cough sonys PSP sucks because they are focusing all of their attention on the sinking PS3 to focus 1st party gaming and game making for the PSP cough*

i have one, it is neat, but only if you spend alot of time waiting places away from home. as gaming systems do, i'd rather play console games on a big screen with surround sound than squint at a screen with tiny speakers.

so if you find yourself away from the comforts of home, and board often, yeah, very worthwhile.

I think its worth it, 129.99 for the ds lite and what 32 bucks for the r4 and you don't even have to buy any games. I just bought the r4 for my brother for his birthday and he's loving it.

yea im not a hardcore gamer, and neither is my gf, We just wanted to get something for when we're at car shows and you have that "waiting" period before the judging lol, it also gives us some thing to do when we're in class and don't feel like paying attention =P

Hey andrewStC, where did you get the r4? I hear its becoming harder and harder to get a hold of

You know what, you could get that Gameboy advanced classic or whatever. That last advanced that they came out with.

i loved my DS lite. i don't have it now because feb of this year i was short on cash and i had to trade her in :'-(. i like the new colors out now. tetris DS on Wi-Fi was amazing. Mario kart, the NEW Super Mario bros bommerman DS and animal crossing was cool. my ex when i was with her loved nintendogs and it looked like a pretty cool game.

plus im a Nintendo freak. i already have a Nintendo themed sleeve tattoo drawn out in my head so yeah you can say im crazy :-P
