How do you start a speech??? For my public speaking class, I have to write a speech about myself, and I can't for the life of me think of what the first sentence should be!!! Can someone help me??? I really need help!

i used the same opening for my speech class last semester


i ended up getting an A

 

Oh, I pay very good attention!! It's just that my professor didn't give any examples or anything! He just said "Do a speech about yourself, and make it between 60 and 90 seconds. And you can have two topics, and no comedy acts".... That's it!! And he gave us 2 days to write, prepare and do it!!!

I hope I do good! I might need more help as I keep writing though!

Ok, sorry to copy your work, but here is an outline of what I have to do. Now all I have to do is make it sound better, and it is only 58 seconds, and I will get an F for that. Could you help me expand on my ideas? I am for some reason having writers block. I can always do such good work, but for some reason, I can't think!!! It doesnt' matter if what you say is true, but could you make changes to my outline, and put the changes in bold please. You seem to know what you are doing!

Start off with, "If I were to describe myself in one word...it'd be AWESOME! I'm so awesome I made this speech about myself and the teacher/professor is simply trying to take credit for it. I'll let it slide though since he/she happens to be alright in my book."

That's roughly what I did in my public speaking class. I didn't write a speech. I just told everyone that I was awesome and that if they were smart they'd understand how awesome I was. I got an A for effort, but a D for being a dick.
