Yes, they are illegal and I think the video is pretty clear. I think some states have also determined aftermarket HID kits on halogen based reflector headlight housing illegal as well. There's one solution to it though: D2R bulbs are a little better, and for some applications, there are glare shields.

But in america, HIDs are the least of the concern. I get blinded by lifted trucks all the time.

hid's aren't meant to and don't need to blind . the causes are incorrectly adjusted lights , hid retrofits without glare shields thus creating hot spots , and lifted vehicles are probably the culprits.

of course not, the people you are ____ing off are infront of you, and they have all the mirrors looking back at you blinding them, if they even look back.

guys, i realise "improperly installed headlights" will case problems no matter what, but most headlights are.

You know what aren't? stock bulbs.

if you guys ever hear of some guy in seattle, who after having a tC or some other car ride his ___ with those lights, proceeds to roll down his window and just lets go of a phonebook, it's probably me.

what is wrong with dazzling people with my headlights? not my fault if they are impressed with blue lights to the point that they can't competently drive their cars anymore.

I believe if someones lights are bothering you then you should switch lanes.

I know alot of cars that come with bright lights comparable to HID's that blind the crap out of me sometimes, but JUST SWITCH LANES.

Some people need bright lights/HID's to drive at night. Alot of people live in the farmland with no street lights. lol.

If you need HIDs to drive at night, dont drive at night.

Thats like saying, for me to drive at night, everyone around me must be blinded by my stupid headlights, and they should feel privledged.

i hear that, if you bright light me or need a billion candle-power bulbs to drive with, at least flash me some ***** when you pass. that makes up for it.

Properly installed and adjusted headlights are not going to blind people...

And Dave, I'm sure people are ____ed when they're in front of you too. The headlights on the box are pretty high up and when someone in a box is behind me, it can seem like their brights are on too... don't blame it on the bulb. Fix the cutoff.
