Default Hostility on SL

i didn't know where to post this so sorry if this is the wrong place mods.
yea, i noticed that ppl here on SL tend to bash other kind of cars, especially hondas.
i wonder if it is that way on other forums. im shure that honda forums don't bash specifacally on scions. i luv all cars. if its nice its nice. i don't care if its honda , toyota, ford, gm........you get the drill. *quotes rodney king* "can't we all jus get along?

yeah.. it happens on all forums... we've been mentioned on mustang forums, honda forums.... etc... same thing happens.

as long as it stays jokingly and not complete utter hatred.. than i'm fine.

when it reaches the point of hating where vandalism is involved... that's where it's too far.. and a war will ensue

Go to NASIOC and see how they bash the Lancer EVO. You could say the Honda, at least here in Phoenix is like the EVO and the STI, it just happens.

I've noticed a lot of domestic bashing... I mean, I love the import sport compact market as much as the next guy, but good ol' American muscle will always have a special place in my heart.

you're kidding with that right? the scion is a japanese car. does a little event called "pearl harbor" conjur any freedom hating images from WWII? it's in the past. let it go man...turn the page.
but on topic, it's been my experience that whatever make of vehicle a person owns and mods creates a sense of community and this ends up being to the exclusion of other brands and their owners. honda owners have had a history of being kind of elitists within the community early on and this has garnered them more hostility than other car brand owners.

but it's no big deal. it's just a label on a product.

hey if you look hard enough there are even people here that bash Scions....
in my opinion its like trash talk. Its going to happen no matter what.

when I used to own a Lancer Ralliart, the 2.5 RS was our main 'rival' Had us beat 9 ways from Sunday buit we still thought we were better..... its a big part of the game... lol

In hornet's defense, I think he was just pointing out American companies betraying their own country in some way for money, which is defined as corruption. To bring up the scion is a japanese car, and tieing that into a freedom hating image from WWII is out line sort to speak. Are you to suggest anything of japanese product/culture is to invoke such images? I guess the next time I eat sushi, it should invoke the unprovoke attack which cost the lives of 2000 American lives. Excuse me sir, but give me a break.

On topic, people tend to bash, because we like to compartmentalize and divide one another. We pick out whats different amoung us and focus on that difference, and then bash to death. Why's it more common in forums? Because you can't associate a face with the statements, more punks tend to come out of the woodworks online. I'd say people would like to perpetuate their insecurities and fears onto others, in that why they dont feel so alone & isolated. Most likely the people who bash honda's either genuinely hate the car(because who needs a reliable car that wont fail?), or the more believable theory is that hate comes out of the hearts of men in many forms. In most cases anti-honda comments are usually a result of anti-young and/or anti-Asian sentiment. my .02.

What do you expect? American companies are in business to make money. Unfortunately, other countries can produce certain products at a much cheaper price then here locally. Look at the ski industry for example, 95% of ski manufacturers have taken their business to China and other nations overseas. The ones that have not have been swallowed up by the major companies. It's not corruption is practical business sense. Again, all companies are out to make a profit.
