Default Hot Cocoa vs. Hot Chocolate dispute.

My girlfriend and I are having a little dispute about whether these two things are the same or not.

I say this:

That I think that they're supposed to be different, that despite their actually *being* different, they're interchanged so much that nobody knows; that it's like ordering sprite and getting sierra mist, and that the differences would that hot chocolate is made primarily from melted chocolate (syrups, etc..), and hot cocoa is made from cocoa (shavings or powder; swiss miss); syrup and milk for chocolate milk and then heated in a microwave etc.. where as cocoa would be done on a stove or something slower.

She says this:

That they're the same thing, interchangeable, and that it's a travesty to even think of syrup and milk in a microwave as hot cocoa/chocolate, that that doesn't count.

So, what do you guys think?

chocolate drink are much more thicker.. like a syrup or shake or something.
me, personally i dont like it and this is the only thing what you can get in the stores

the cocoa is powder + milk

much more liquid and personally i LOVE it!

you cant buy this in the store as a drink.. you have to get the cocoa powder plus milk and mix it for yourself

i like nestle + milk (no syrup.. nothing else, just milk and the cocoa powder)

btw if you put half chocolate drink , half milk it would be more close to a cocoa drink.

here you go:

"There is an important difference between hot cocoa and hot chocolate.

These terms are often used interchangeably, but the distinction is in the nutritional properties. Hot cocoa is made from raw cocoa powder, which is pressed chocolate which removes the fat of the cocoa butter. Hot chocolate is made from chocolate bars melted into a cream or ground into a powder. Often hot chocolate has a very high sugar and fat content and low cocoa content. The nutrition in Healthy hot Cocoa can be very good for you, especially if you minimize the sugar and fat. It seems as though we are not the first to understand that Hot cocoa has proven health benefits."
