Okay so a number of months ago I mentioned this to the heads of SL and they said it was a good idea but thought it was relatively impractical.

Let me explain...

I had been thinking that it would be really sweet if as many SL members as possible could all get together for a giant meet, kind of like a family reunion. Now of course everyone will want it to be in their town, but that really couldn't be that easy ( unless you live in a city ). Kind of like, LA one year, Chicago the next, Atlanta after that, etc.

Now I know that organizing this could be quite a large effort, but I think that if enough of us appear to be interested, we will be able to make it happen ( maybe not this year, but soon ).

For some it might be nice to put a face to the screen name that you are talking to across the country, and it would also give us the chance to see in person what we have only seen in pics.

So, if this sounds like a good idea let's try to make it a reality.

We had a mini get toegether for the Miami event... That was about as big as ive been to for SL events...

As for an all around meet, could be done, not likely, but possible...

 

I just love road trips :D
Just as long as it's not too far, it would be no fun flying to a SL meet

 

SL should pay for the GAS and Room & Board for ALL of us and have a BIG ol Crazy SL get together!!...Yay!..YaY!!

they should also rent car haulers so it won't ___ extra miles to our already too much miles on our cars period...

 

What are the going rates this time of year? Maybe Wyoming will offer us a discount if they know we are shopping... :D

 

yeah, especially since we'd near double Wyoming's population showing up and the boost to their economy would have the locals talking about it for years.

Truth be told, I don't think Wyoming would work out. I was on a road trip up from denver, driving on the interstate and was going to spend the night in Cheyenne, WY (the capitol, the largest city, accutally where over half of wyomings population resides), so I saw a sign that said entering Cheyenne. As I was hungry and tired, I was excited, so up came the first exit off the highway to Cheyenne, there was nothing in sight except a truck gas station.
"Thats's ok, there will be many more exits and places to stop.", I thought.

Next exit "City Center", again, where's the businesses? I think I saw a hardees and a muffler shop.

There was no "next exit" into Cheyenne.

Sure, if I had taken that second exit into the "city center" I may have found something. Redneck Cannibals, maybe.

Wyoming, no thanks.

 

Where would be a central location that people from north, south , east and west would find it fair to drive to?

 

Kansas is the exact geographical location for the center of the continental US.

It would of course be nice to find a central location for an event of this type to be, but that is easier said than done.

Everyone wants it to be in their town, almost everyone. I'd rather road trip somewhere else, and this whole thing is my idea.

If you don't want to put the miles on your car, don't go if it's too far. That's why I said in the beginning, if we had it say in LA the 1st year, Chicago the 2nd, New York the 3rd, Denver the 4th, Houston the 5th, Atlanta the 6th, and so on...if you don't want to do the long distance maybe the next year it will be closer to your home.

All the different locations would make it more fun.

Hey I'm sure that there are a handful of us who would go just about anywhere if this was happening ( I would be one of them ).

 

How would you set up a meet in a town you have never been to? I would guess we would need a rep in each town.
