how long did it take you
I guess I'm the minority, but I knew what I wanted to do right after high school. I spent 6 years in school and learned what I love to do.
And from my experience, you need an education of some sort to compete in the workplace. I work as an HR manager and I screen many resumes each day. Those who have an education typically have a better shot.

Don't be alarmed man, there are plenty of seniors (like me ) in high school that are in your same position. In my opinion you are a freak if you know what you want to do before you get out of high school, because you are so limited in high school I don't think that an accurate decision can be made on what you want to do for the rest of your life. It's just what your high school pushes you to find out because states (at least mine does) require it.
My recommendation is something like Dave Dave said, try everything that you haven't tried before, and find the one thing that you could do for hours and never get tired of it. Then go for it.

Right now, I went to college for 3 semesters, and then i got offered a really good management job at Champs Sports here in town, so I took that in a heartbeat... but i really want to go back to school, but i dont know for what yet, so i figured i might as well make some money while i decide what i want to study.
^ lol dammit I guess that makes me a freak then...or "minority" as HR_Guy said
i knew since I was a little kid that I wanted to work with cars and for a big automotive company.
However, I wanted to be a car designer (lol yeah I'm not even close to that right now, didn't even go to art school....my drawing skills are um...not that great haha). I began college as a mechanical engineering major, then realized I didnt like it, but still knew I wanted to work for an automotive company so I switched to Business-marketing and interned at Toyota Motor Sales, USA in CA Now I work in the Scion division of TMS and my plan is to retire from this company.
but, as everyone else stated, it may just take trying different things to find what you really like and/or are really good at, and then going from there =]
