Default How Rice is it?

hey this is a little experiment i'm doing somewhere else and i thought i would give it a shot here as well.

so basically i'll have a list of things and it would be nice to get feedback on how rice you think it is. yes i realize rice is race inspired cosmetic enhancements but i'm using it as a general term to describe any upgrade you view as pointless, redundant, stupid etc...

so on a scale of 1-10 + whatever comments you want to throw in about it
1 being not ricey but actually cool
and 10 being home made civic bodykit ricey.

and obviously you dont have to answer each one, just whichever catches your attention but i dont care how many you respond to.
bold are the topics that stirred up debate last time i did this.
so how rice is...

-bodykits in general (why do you like/dislike?)
-Automaker decals (ford, honda, toyota, etc...)
-Performance decals (TRD, Superchips, Koenig, etc...)
-upgraded mufflers (any type)
-suspension upgrades on a front wheel drive (struts, coilovers, sway bars)
-speed upgrades on an automatic transmission car (Turbos, superchargers, intakes)
-Remote Engine start (factory or aftermarket)
-LED underlighting (street glow type setups)
-BMW ripoff headlights (angel eyes/halos)
-spoiler that comes halfway up rear window (common on celicas)
-any spoiler on a Front wheel drive
-smoked lights (headlights, tail lights, side markers, etc...)
-carbon fiber (interior)
-carbon fiber (exterior)

-vinyl graphics (flames up the side of a car and such)
-any rim upgrades (size, design, whatever)
-two tone paint (i.e. Black on bottom half with green on top half of car)
-Color shift paint (color changes as different light hits the car)
-Vertical Doors (looks good on what cars if any in your opinion?)

if i missed anything feel free to comment anyways, once again the more things you respond to the better but you dont have to do any anyways.

I'm not answering all of them, just a few that stick out to me.
Unless you are a sponsored show car that is rarely ever driven, you shouldn't have manufacturer stickers on your car. One or two that may have meaning to you is cool, but too many stickers just attracts attention in my opinion.
Exterior CF is a great look if done on the right color, and it isn't taken overboard. Same goes for interior on the overkill part.
Color changing paint died in the 90's, except for low riders and muscle cars.
Vertical doors are corny, and I'm tired of seeing them.
And I don't mind some bodykits, but I tend to like a cleaner look of a nice subtle lip kit. If done right, a body kit can look really good though, but the rest of the car also has to be done right to match.

haha i think honda is the only car that has rivalries btw themselves. civics vs accords... crx vs del sol etc. toyota drivers and scion drivers dont even have the same badge but yet seem to throw a wave at each other when passing by on the road.
also the only car to where the early 90s models are still more popular than anything else in the parking lot in the 16 yr old punk to 30 yr old loser range.... no offense

-bodykits in general (why do you like/dislike?) stupid imo
-Automaker decals (ford, honda, toyota, etc...) tacky imo
-Performance decals (TRD, Superchips, Koenig, etc...) even more tacky imo
-upgraded mufflers (any type) productive sometimes pending the vehicle
-suspension upgrades on a front wheel drive (struts, coilovers, sway bars) productive on ost vehicles
-speed upgrades on an automatic transmission car (Turbos, superchargers, intakes) dumb imo
-Remote Engine start (factory or aftermarket) worth it on all vehicles
-LED underlighting (street glow type setups) rice has been played out since the 90
-BMW ripoff headlights (angel eyes/halos) really tacky
-spoiler that comes halfway up rear window (common on celicas) horrible idea
-any spoiler on a Front wheel drive pending the vehicle
-smoked lights (headlights, tail lights, side markers, etc...) again with being played out in the 90s
-carbon fiber (interior) on a 20k$ car its tacky
-carbon fiber (exterior) tacky
-vinyl graphics (flames up the side of a car and such) tacky
-any rim upgrades (size, design, whatever) pending the vehicle
-two tone paint (i.e. Black on bottom half with green on top half of car) pending the vehicle
-Color shift paint (color changes as different light hits the car) i think of a certain mustag on this one! but still tackky
-Vertical Doors (looks good on what cars if any in your opinion?) pointless on any vehicle you can afford when you make less than 100K a year

The only mod you mentioned that has any real use are the suspension upgrades and power mods. The rest are all just looks.. if you like those things. I think body kits, spoilers, stickers, etc all take away from the look of a car. But that is just my opinion. I think vertical doors look bad, and even more, they will always sag, need adjustment, etc on a car with long heavy doors like ours. I actually dont even like lambo doors on a lambo.. they would be better with regular doors IMO. I like clean, well thought out cars. In other words, even with a lot of changes, they should look like the whole car was designed together professionally, not like a kid picked out every part from a website and slapped it on

Suspension is hands down the best bang for your buck on this car, period. About $1000 will make a stock tC handled like a different car. But as always, most of the parts out there are poorly designed. Most springs are way too low for the geometry and have super low rates for the drop, meaning they are worse handling wise than stock. But most people never really push thier car, even if they think they do, so they dont know that it handles worse than stock Autoxing one really shows you what your mods do.

Coilovers are for adjustability and tuneability. So those are a waste of dough unless you are really going to tune the suspension with them. So not bad... but just not a good place to put your money if you just want to drop the car.

Rims IMO should not be larger than our stock rims. Larger wheels are typically a detriment to performance unless everything else is designed for them. But, again, I care more about how the car handles and performs than I do having a set of big wheels. I also happen to like the 17" size more than larger ones in the looks dept as well.

The appearance mods are all about what you want. So do what you want. I dont like the look of CF all that much, so putting it on a car unpainted doesnt impress me much. If you like the way it looks, then you will disagree obviously. I like CF for its strength to weight ratio. In other words, the cheaper CF hoods dont impress me since they are typically a fiber glass shell with some CF laid over them for looks. Kind of takes away from the weight reducing factor of CF.

10, horrible fitment, to over the top, lip kits are way better

-Automaker decals (ford, honda, toyota, etc...)

10, we know what kind of car it is, it already has plenty of badges.

-Performance decals (TRD, Superchips, Koenig, etc...)

10, just a roll call so ppl can steal your isht

-upgraded mufflers (any type)

5, this one depends, some jelp performance a little and sound nice, some are just awful

-suspension upgrades on a front wheel drive (struts, coilovers, sway bars)

1, can drastically improve handling

-speed upgrades on an automatic transmission car (Turbos, superchargers, intakes)

im biased on this one, i dont really care.

-Remote Engine start (factory or aftermarket)

doesnt really have anything to do with RICE

-LED underlighting (street glow type setups)

10, not my style

-BMW ripoff headlights (angel eyes/halos)

10, i say leave em for the BMW's

-spoiler that comes halfway up rear window (common on celicas)

10, our cars will likely never need the "donwforce" , they are practical for eating off of though

-any spoiler on a Front wheel drive

5, lip spoilers and stuff like that are fine, some tc's can pull off the kami, it really just depends.

-smoked lights (headlights, tail lights, side markers, etc...)

5, depending on the tint job, it can make things look better...or worse.

-carbon fiber (interior)

10, no, it usually a fake tacky sticker, not even real, and its often overdone to the point where its completely overwhelming

-carbon fiber (exterior)

5, in some instances, (i.e. roof, hood, hatch) for weight loss, also small things like garnished and gas doors are alright if they flow well, but again, the carbon fiber stickers and isht..no

-vinyl graphics (flames up the side of a car and such)

5, unless its advertising a business. no

-any rim upgrades (size, design, whatever)

5, yes and no, as long as they look better then the stock ones, theyre not 65" big, spinners, etc etc. tastefully done is great though, rims can really make or break a car.

-two tone paint (i.e. Black on bottom half with green on top half of car)

8, can look ok, but extremely played out.

-Color shift paint (color changes as different light hits the car)

10, no...just...no

-Vertical Doors (looks good on what cars if any in your opinion?)

10, belong on lambos only, and even then theyre getting old

Best overall in reliability is prolly Honda. I like Toyota alot cause of the Supra and my tC. The supra is the best car ever in my book. But Nissan has had some issues with quality in the past but overall I feel are the best Japanese automaker cause they make the S15, 14, 13 the skyline, the 350z and the G35.
