Default I need help with a projection tv...

Well My girlfriends mom has a 57 inch rear-projection that she said I could have. Problem is that it has a crack in the screen but not in the screen itself, its like something is projecting a crack onto the screen. Is that a problem with the lamp? Anyone know? Because its kind of a large object and Im not going to move it to my house if its not worth fixing. If anyone needs any more info to help me out let me know.
