Default I need to make the woman happy

Ok so my fiance is looking at new cars she's looking to spend 21 to 24 grand on a brand new one.

She has a couple cars in mind:
Volvo s40
Pros: safe and nice interrior
cons: only 168hp for 24,000 kinda pricey for something as fast as a tc at only 18,000

and

Mazda Speed3:
I have never really heard anything about reliability or how well built these cars are.
they got 4 and 5 stars or safety but thats about all i know about them.
Can you guys give me some insight whether or not these are good car.

also if you would like to suggest other cars for this price range that would be helpful.

thanks
Adam

Ive heard a lot of good things about the Mazda Speed3's performance and handling. Lots of good things.

Altho, i have not heard one single thing about its reliability. But I for one still relate it to that of the oval, which in my eyes has been lacking as of late.

You will not be happy with the volvo, performance wise, unless your will to spend more. Ive driven that model and was very disappointed in it.

Mazdaspeed 3, same price, almost another 100 hp. Well, i'd give it a lil more time though, just to see if there are any intial production defects, but i think they'll be fine, as the regular 3's have been. The volvo is nice, but thats alot of money for that power, but then again, the safety must be inpecable, lol. God luck choosing! Btw, i'd get the MS3 personally tho.

Go with the Volvo.............safer car, more comfortable and just a better built car all around. That's the one my gf wants and she won't go for any other car other than a Volvo.

Volvos are the some of the longest lasting cars on the road. And although they are owned by "The Oval," they are still built in Europe I believe.

They are Swedish cars. Most are built in Belgium, Sweden and the Netherlands. Some in Canada and S.E. Asia. I would chose Volvo over almost any car if I could.

Less bells and whistles.......I care more about the safety of the car. Volvo is #1 in the industry, overall comfort...........Volvos hug you soooooooooo nicely......plus heated seat options

Yes, I would definately take a Volvo.

Hi this is the fiance
I wanted to say my reasonings for what i want

I want the mazda because of the speed and its cute (i'm a girl i get to say it)

I don't like the volvo because of the more money for less and right now i have an older infinite and its leather (i hate leahter) heated seats (wouldn't care if it wasn't leather) I am not big on comfort cars
I hate when i mess with my seats and i push the wrong button, it takes me a year to get it back to the way it was

I think i want something more sporty and fun

but i do want the saftey, is there anything wrong like i should be worried about with the mazda PLEASE LET ME KNOW

knowing that what do you all think

Thanks!!!

And another thing. You might wanna check the mazda forums to maybe answer some of your questions although their site may be a little biased as all car forums will be.

I would agree. Sign on to a Mazda forum and get some information from them. They are better sources than us

Yeah, about the comfort, my gf has had a back injury due to an accident and she's always wanted a Volvo. She's needs a very comfortable and safe car so that's only why I suggested it.

Good luck with what you choose.

we've got about 9 months to decide so we've got some time to decide but I would like to have a good idea when we actually start shopping.

Cobalt SS S/C is a nice car and underrated by GM. It's about 200 whp, not 200 hp as they claim. Too many dynos prove this and my friend's Cobalt is sick. Very comfortable, very sturdy feel on straight aways and turns, great suspension, strong power output..........about 23-26K.....take it for a test drive but actually drive it hard. It's very surprising.
