Default iPhone plans

I don't care at all about peoples opinions on the product, because I know people will complain and ____. I just want to know if anyone knows if the iPhone needs a special AT&T plan. I know the sidekick has some b.s. $20 plan which is automatically added onto the regular phone plan. I went to the AT&T site and tried to add the iPhone to my cart and select a plan, and it told me I couldn't get a plan with the iPhone...

Okay, basically it's the 39.99 with the plan I put up there ^. Basically the plan I would get anyway regardless of the phone lol.

Not getting it til May (Verizon contract) and I'm buying it from an Apple store, no other place, opening it up in the store, check for dead pixels(exchanging on the spot if it has dead/stuck pixels), then going over to the AT&T store.

NO....I know HOw to get Iphone for less...
Just follow these steps...
ATT offers you free phone with activation of 2 year agreemnet... CHOOSE the BEST FREE PHONE THEY OFFER AND SELL IT ON EBAY...
YOU can add the 20$ data plan later when you order the Iphone... And all you do is transfer the sim card which only takes a second.
For example. You order a Black Jack Samsung (currently free phone with activation) and they sell for 150$, and choose 39.99 plan. So I guess iphone now are 400$ but all you need is 250$ since you can sell the black jack for 150.
once you get the iphone just put the simcard and call611 to add 20$ plan

Nice loophole, I thought you were going to tell me about one of those dumb referral programs. Now I'm going to go buy the iPod, go to the AT&T store, get a free phone, ask about how I can upgrade to the iPhone "in the near future", listen to the guy tell me to just swap the card into the phone/add the data plan, then hand him the iPhone and tell him to change my plan. Haha.

^^ yeah you can so just swap the sim card from whatever free phone onto the iphone... oh guess what... i have tried it and it does not work. hehe... sorry to burst your bubble but i too have an iphone and i have jailbreak it also... currently i have 1.1.1 version which is in my opinion is the best version out there right now... if you are going to get an iphone now... it'll be on 1.1.2 version... not much difference with 1.1.1 other than, on 1.1.1 you can downgrade onto 1.0.2 which you can unlock it, use whatever sim card you want... which you can also do on 1.1.1 version that you can unlock it and use whatever sim card... as of now... there is no way to downgrade 1.1.2 version cuz the they have not hacked the baseband just yet... and 1.1.3 is due to come out soon... so you think that swapping out the sim card will work, nah, i have done it when i first got my iphone... nope, does not work, UNLESS you have 1.0.2 version or even 1.0.1 which is the very first iphone to come out. good luck finding those two version cuz most of the iphones that you will buy now is 1.1.2 version... but who knows, maybe the hack to use you old sim card is out there already that i have not read up on yet, but as of now, nope. sorry.

WTF.. are you talking about.... it doesn;t matter what version is... WHAT IF YOU ARE AN EXISTING ATT CUSTOMER WHO WANTS TO UPGRADE TO IPHONE??? YOU SAYING THEY CAN"T??? Either they will provide you with a new simcard and transfer your number...or they will make it to work to the new iphone...

uhhh... i am an existing att customer... and NO CAPS LOCK!! WHY YOU YELLING AT ME? sheesh... iphone comes with a simcard already... i dont know if you know about that or not... i dont know if you were an att customer before OR NOT!! but I AM! I HAVE BEEN SINCE I WAS 18 back when it was CINGULAR. as i have mentioned before... iphone comes with their own simcard... do me a favor, look up on your iphone where the headset goes in... see that little hole? poke a paper clip on it and pop out the sim card... yeah... thats in there already. ALSO, I NEVER SAID THEY CANT UPGRADE IF THEY ARE CURRENT ATT CUSTOMER.

all im saying is, he is better off getting the phone with the plan and save himself a headache. loophole schoothole. do it right and you will not regret it... just like the way you want to mod your car... do it right the first time or else you in for a big headache. unless your into that, then that on you.

edit:

also, it does matter what version you have... i will bet you $100 that you buy a brand new iphone, pop in you old sim card, and boom... it will not work. it did not work back in 1.0.1 (which was the very first version of iphone which i have) and it will not work on newer versions now. UNLESS, you have old version (1.0.2 or 1.0.1 i am not sure with 1.1.1) then you can "hack" it so that you can use your old sim card... but please do not tell him that you can "just pop it and it'll work" just like that.

I guess you did it the hard way....
All you have to do is take it to ATT store and let them do it.. That;s why they are hired for....

^^^^ hahahahahaha!!!!! you have got to be kidding me...!!! all they will do to you is ask you what data plan to add to it anyways and oh guess what, they will use the sim card that came with the iphone. hahahahaha. WOW! you need to do some more research man.
