yaya..you just jealous cause you paid the full amount for your 1.1.1 VERSION iphone

 

so is it possible to get the iPhone without the data plan? (not sure why you wouldnt want to)....but just curious.

 

^^ hahaha i never said im jealous... and oh guess what... i have 1.0.1... which is the first version... and oh guess what again... i can unlock it so that i can use it overseas and lock it back to att... i just hate it when people tell other people to do a half a$$ job rather than doing it right the first time. maybe you paid less than what i paid, so what? did i make baby jesus cry? just do some research first before you post something that you are not sure of, cuz if dont, youll just make fun of yourself.

yes you can, as long as you either have 1.0.2 or 1.0.1 version. then you can "hack" it to use your old sim card... but finding those 2 versions will be next to impossible. although, i am not sure if 1.1.1 version, if you are able to "hack" it and use your old sim card... i have to ask and check if you are able too, but then again, its hard to find 1.1.1 versions now cuz most of them now are 1.1.2. which really sux cuz you cant unlock that version.

to the OP, just wait till your done with your contract, maybe 1.1.3 will be out when its done and maybe by that time, 3G will be in iphones now... hmmm 3G. and there will always be "hacks" out there for you to add 3rd party programs.

 

wow! this contradicts all what you have just said about popping in your old sim card. as i have said before, please do not tell other people what to do just because YOU THINK that you can do it, BUT never even tried it. as i have said before too, do your research before you say something.

 

Yes and no I guess, you could just get the iPod touch .

 

no it is not possible, when you are activating an iphone, which is done through itunes, you have to choose atleast the 20 dollar plan which includes unlimited data and 200 text before the phone can be active. you might be able to do it with a hacked iphone tho.

also, the iphone does not need to be activated by an at&t store. you can do it at home via itunes. whoever said that you can do the upgrade and just swap sims is not correct b/c the iphone needs to have the sim in it with which it was activated.

and for the upgrade thing, that would work but, 1. not every is eligible for an upgrade all the time. 2. most "free" phones require you to add data plans inorder to revieve mail in rebates which take 6-8 weeks. and if you swap phones and remove that particular data plan before your rebate is processesed(usually somthing like a month after your purchase) you will not get your rebate back in the mail.

also, if you are in a current contract with at&t you do not have to wait until you are up for an upgrade, you can get an iphone and upgrade your current phone to it any time.

This is why I never even bothered looking into the this. So confusing and such a waste of time considering how the terms will change after everyone gets screwed out of their money somehow by At&t/cingular and just the association of .99 cost of apple for anything.

Ya know what, I'm just gonna buy the iPhone, then go to an AT&T store and ask about upgrading to it. If the guy says it's possible by adding the plan (like the website says), then I'm going to get the best instant free cell phone, sell that thing on ebay and upgrade.
