barely family owned "italian" restaurants are good
imagine chains

nah well being incredibly picky over this i'd recommend two and ONLY two places in DC and proximity for real italian food.....

1. 2 AMY's - Tenley town AMAZING pizza, kinda expensive but hey...and delicious suppli'! (***** of rice, with melted mozarella, and then fried)

2. PASTA MIA - Adams Morgan, go for the gnocchi! they don't take reservations cos they don't have to....there's always a line going outside the restaurant and around the corner (small place) but for 11$ u get a huge portion of home made gnocchi di patate

I miss Italy so much. I am trying to move back to Europe, b ut this time probably to Germany. I live there for 2 years. I got kinda annoyed with the Italian siestas.

I love italian food. But american italian is so different. Johnny Carinos has decent italian.

i lived in Austria 5 years....they might not make as many "siestas" as italians but they sure aren't helpful
