Why don't people don't take them off immediately?
Quite frankly, most people just don't give a skit. And in Colorado, they where those "John Elway" dealership plates and stickers with pride. But that's because he drove to the goal line for their pleasure, skis barefooted, and turned snow into Coors once.

Its a good thing that the troops are in Iraq fighting a impossible war, that was started over lies. God Bless America! How was Iraq infringing on my freedom? Never saw any Iraqis bombing taco bells or targets have you? When Iraqis starts bombing Taco Bell, then you have my support, until then, congratulations, on fighting a war started by a warlord, oil company bi%&$, liar. Keep a eye out for WMDs.

The ONLY war that would make any sense would be against Saudi Arabia. Where did 16 of the 9/11 hijackers come from again? I forgot.
I dont know if you are aware or not, but the ribbons are support our TROOPS. Not support the war. Just because our government sent us to war for something you find not right, doesnt mean it has to be taken out on the troops.
We do our job, we do what is told of us. That does not show we agree with the war, the reasonings for the war, or the manor in which the war is fought.
We do what we do because someone has to do it. Yes times come up when what we do isnt needed, supported, wanted or totally beneficial to the cuase. But we cant pick and choose what we support.
If we did pick and choose, america as a whole would be in a world of hurt.

You're quite welcome. Oh, and for the record, two kids from my old high school wrestling team died in Iraq and one of my good friends is stationed in the middle east right now with his brother soon to be on his way. I whole heartedly support the hard work and effort that our troops put in every day.

I'm saying to ban a ____ing ribbon, you douchebag, not say you can't support something. Oh yeah, it's also a little thing called overblowing something. Has the military raped you of your freedom of expression and sense of awareness and humor?

And you're not fighting for my freedom, you're over in Iraq fighting in another country's civil war that was started based off our president's personal vendetta against Saddam.

Oh how I love freedom of speech.

x2
definately other ways to offer support than having a magnet on your car.

I dont support the war, and i do and dont support the troops. I support the troops in the military that weer around before 9/11 and had no choice but to ship off to iraq. But i certainly do no support, nor respect anyone whom has signed up since the invasion of iraq. Lost a friend over this one. Certainly dont support anyone who wants to fight for such a terrible cause. Get out if ya can.

Nick06tC, re-read your words...

Banning somthing that shows peoples support for your freedom. Thats a new all time low.

You said NOTHING about supporting the troops. You, yourself spoke of "support for your freedom". That doesn't mean that you were speaking of ribbons supporting troops... to me that says that you were speaking of ribbons supporting the war.

Sometimes I misread what people write so if anyone wants to correct me on my interpretation, please do. I would say that this interpretation would definitely of caused TheRealBen to of replied like he did.

I think every singe one of us can recognize that we can support the troops and not the war... hence the phrase, eh?

Nick06tC, I would also like to say that I'm disappointed that, even though you only quoted one of us originally, you never apologized for coming up with the wrong conclusion and regarding our words as "all time low" and calling us buttholes.

Backseatchris, I never thought about it that way.

No where did I ever speak of a war. No where have I ever seen a ribbon that says support the war in Iraq. I could be wrong, and there might be ribbons as such. If there is, then yes I do appologize.
Statements and conversations such as the one going here, are huge and by no means something that should be joked about. There are people dieing and doing things that they may not have expected, but like someone said, some of us HAVE been in since before 9/11. I myself joined in 1999.
I have alot of support and my wife and parents have the support our troops ribbons displayed on their cars. For someone to say that should be banned and my wife and parents should be executed.....welll thats where my statement of a new all time low comes into affect.
Yes the poster was probably kidding and obviously reverting to his freedom of speech. But he, and everyone else, needs to realize comments like his will always get a response. Thats the way freedom of speech works. Being a troop is a whole different world and we are very deffensive of words spoken against us, or those that support us.
We dont have much support from the majority of our government, or the american population. So its a natural instinct to defend ourselves. Its the way we do things.

I shouldnt have moved to the name calling, and I appologize.
But people also need to realize that I have no where in my posts spoke of my stance on the war, so I dont know why it is even brought up. ITS A TROOP THING.

Nick,

I know you didn't type out the words "war" but that comment did seem like you wrote we should support the war. I can see how you didn't intend it to... but it does say..

Banning somthing that shows peoples support for your freedom.
It wasn't "Banning something that shows support for your troops".

That is why, I believe, someone lectured you about their thoughts on the war. That is all I was trying to get at.

Oh, this is very funny. After the first bit though, when they break into the "Tie a Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree" parody is when it gets good.

I'm glad you liked it! My husband and I stumbled upon that earlier today and I couldn't wait to post it in this here thread!
