1) Posting in lists is getting lame

2) The game is over, Italy won! screw france!!!

3) The french guy was a butthead when headbutted the Italian guy

4) It was shocking and was a definite "wow" moment for the games

5) The ref probably saved the french guy's legs/knees, because the Italian goalie was beaming for him. and if you don't know anything about soccer, know this, the goalies are untouchables. Short of delibritley kicking someone in the head, they pretty much do whatever the heck they want to you. And I imagine that at that level, they are pretty good at making anything look "accidental".

6) If anyone is doubting the verocity of the headbutt, just have someone kick a soccer ball at your head at about 20 paces and see what that feels like. Now, if you did that to the french guy, he wouldn't feel it....not even a little bit. He's been hitting soccer ***** and I imagine all kinds of things with his head since he was 5. Quite frankly, his head is extremely hard and he could probably crack a coconut with it. Also, tv has a way of making everything look simple and painless. In fact, Bruce Lee could knock you through a wall with his fist only about 5" from your sternum, and the only thing we'd see on tv is what looks like you jumping backwards. Quick hard strikes pack the most punch.

2. yes i do, i have fox too, nbc, abc, etc - i never look only at one side of the story i read-watch as much as possible from as many possible options - u first said u knew his intentions not me
I was asking if you had ESP. There was that ESPN commercial awhile back that joked about ESP-N. Around the same time as the "espen" commercials.

And, ScionofPCFL...

You are correct about Zidane's head. That things solid as a rock. And, also, yeah...the keepers are incredible at making things look accidental.

Funny thing is this, most violations in sports are punishable even if 100% accidental, especially with regard to player injuries. However, when it comes to goalies, they pretty much have carte blanche. A goalie would practically have to bring a foriegn object on the field to get in trouble, and I think that's only a yellow card unless it has gun powder

In all seriousness, Zidane would have been toasted if he had got within 10 yards of the Italian goalie.

Oh please, if that guy wanted to stand there and take that shot, he easily could have. He is every bit as big as Zidane and they are both athletes in peak physical condition. Fact is they are trained to send themselves flying through the air at the slightest touch so as to "sell the foul" to the ref. Notice how he was up and running around after Zidane was ejected. Hardly seems like the actions of a person who just received a fatal headbutt to the heart.

hmmm maybe the fact that he was able to play after all says something of his stamina and/or patriotism or plain talent and strenght of will?

Who said anything about fatal? I'm just saying that it probably hurt like hell.

Also, look at the force. Take two straws and hold one up. Put your finger on the top of one of them with the bottom end on the ground. Take the other straw and turn it perpendicular to the other one. Holding the one that is vertical steady, take the horizontal one and jab it into the vertical one. notice how the vertical one bends? Now, aren't these two straws made of equal materials and are therefore equal in strength? strange. why would one bend and the other one not?

I was only joking about the fatal remark. Hence the I know you weren't implying that.

Your excellent physics lesson aside, I still contend that the Italian's reaction far exceeded the force of the blow. But I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I'm sure it hurt like hell, I just don't think it would send him flying like that. Think about it, he was presented with the opportunity to get the best player of the whole tournament ejected (Zidane did win the golden ball award), of course he is going to go flying through the air and act like he just got shot. Just my .02.

tC4italy: EDIT: I see you removed your remark about your desire that I "get injured" by such an attack. But in any event, your wish has been granted, I played some club soccer in college and I dislocated my shoulder as a result of a cheap shot slide tackle from behind. So there.

uhm the Golden Ball Award was voted before the match ended - witch is bull$hit and unfair - so i really don't think that was in his mind. as we said earlier all players tend to exagerate, he got hit pretty hard, the force of the blow and the fact he didn't except it is what send him to the floor, there are players that go down when blown on

so yr injury didn't hurt u? u didn't fall on the floor? u didn't have a lump in yr throat from the pain? if u didn't then please let me know cos i def. wanna meet u

My injury hurt like hell, I did fall on the floor. In fact, it was a combination of gravity and the floor that caused the injury. Here's the difference though, I was tackled from behind by someone running at me full speed. Zidane took maybe 4 or 5 steps at a walking pace then lowered his head. Again, I'm not saying it was just any love tap. I'm sure it hurt. I'm just saying that he was overacting. And you even said yourself that players dive all the time. So I guess you agree with me then.

I only have one thing to say, because I really don't care about either team. But you make it seem as if Materazzi is an angel and has done no wrong...ever. What about when he punched Bruno Cirillo a couple years ago? And I remember a really bad tackle he made on Ibrahimovic just last year.

I'm not saying that Zidane is a saint by any means...I remember his stomp on the Saudi team member in the 98 world cup.

All i'm saying is that Materazzi isn't the saint of all players either.
