Default .mac users.

I was surprised no one asked this question, if so, you know what to do.

Any Mac users? I just got my MacBook Pro for college, and I'm in love with it

Quick Stats: 15.4" Matte . 2Ghz Duo . 1GB RAM . 80 GB HD

I've been a mac user since I was 5 and we got our first family computer.

I've got two computers, myself. My eMac was a Christmas present about four years ago, and I bought myself a 12'' Powerbook last year for college.

I'm a photographer, not exactly "graphics". Nothing I couldn't do on a PC. I just prefer them because I used them all through high school, now I'm heading off to college and just like OS X over Windows XP.

Once I used one I was hooked

I was about to say the same thing, Download Boot Camp and buy a fresh version of XP and you can have both Tiger and XP on your Macbook. And 2.0 GHz is plenty fast, especially with the new Duo Core technology. I can honestly say that the Pro is easily a desktop replacement. But get the 1GB memory without a doubt.

I have done many "conversions" and frequently switch platforms myself.

Best advice ever for a switcher:

1)buy a copy of Mac OS X (10.4) for Dummies. Really. This will at least teach you the basics of your new operating system- things like how to adjust your preferences, print to PDF, change the views, etc. That way, you won't be posting 1,000 questions on the web about stuff that's contained in the Help menu.

2) Find a good Mac help forum and sticky it. Read a lot.

3) Absolutely DO NOT use your former Windows computer for 1 month. Burn your pics onto DVD, email your bookmarks, etc. A large amount of frustration for new users is because they flip between XP and OS X and (of course, being unfamiliar with Macs) become angry because "Well, that's not how Windows does it."

4) OS X gets happier and happier with the more memory that you feed it.

oh no you can infact most of the drivers needed for all digi cams come preloaded to all macs. I agree its a good Idea not to use a windows based computer for the first month untill you get the hang of useing the mac... for me it was simple seeing how My other computer ....... an HP was a peice of garbage anyway. Trust me the old saying is once you go mac you sure as hell aint going back
