Front Row is awesome for in-car iTunes, but I'm running into limitations when trying to find other vehicle software. Most GPS, XM, OBDII and engine management software seems to be Windows only, so I might need to go Boot Camp or Parallels.
use parallels, the coherence mode is awsome. puts everything out with the mac desktop.

are you ok with piracy? or against it?

a PM would be fine too. just....out of curiosiity.

Ummm, pc, pc, pc, pc, pc all on Windows. Windows laptop. In the next few weeks, I'm rebuilding one of my PCs to run Ubuntu. Sorry, no mac's here. I'm not against mac in anyway, just that I'm pretty heavy into gaming, and the gaming industry, for the most part, doesn't realize there are platforms other than Windows.

Really wish gaming would become more prevalent in linux... I can't wait til that group cracks direct X 10. Wine just isn't cutting it these days. At least not with the games I play.

You probably should get a subscription with Codeweavers' Cedega. Their version of wine is forked and is 100% specific to gaming - wine is an all in one tool, i.e. counterstrike and MS access. Or you can pay for the first month or two, and then just keep whatever version you have - it's not time limited - the subscription just gives you all their updates. You know, bleeding edge stuff.

DX10 should be interesting... they (as in MS) aren't backporting it to XP. I wonder how this affects wine.

And, there are quite a few games for Linux.

Sauerbrauten is pretty intense, graphics wise.

For aen, how well does parallels support hardware communication? Are their any issues with USB to serial devices or native USB communication? I'd hate to be in the middle of loading an eManage map and have the data stream crap out? I'm not necessarily against piracy if the legal route is overpriced, but I generally find it to be more hassle then it's worth, especially if systems need rebuild later or service patches are applied. I'm willing to buy XP for around $100, but I won't be paying $350 for it. You could not pay me to use Vista until there is something decent that actually uses DX10.

it's actally pretty awsome how it works, no issues with usb, serial or anything like that...i run my f/ic off of my mac =D the only thing it has problems doing is say....rendering graphics at the same level as the mac itself, it won't utilize hte video card because the mac is already using it.

so you can't play games and such, or use a pretty sabayon or ubuntu

movies, photoshop and whatnot

A-oK!
