while i don't doubt the tC is a "safe" car, i truly believe it was something more than just that. i would attribute your survival and lack of injury to GOD or whatever spiritual being you being in. while what you did was definitely stupid, i'm not going to pound on that: 1) a lot of others have and 2) it sounds as if you've learned your lesson. i can't knock you for speeding b/c i do it myself (i love going 90+), but there's a time and place. it's hard to predict blowing a tire, but if you weren't racing i bet it could have been better controlled.

the driver of the SRT, it's cool that they helped you, but the reason he lied is b/c both of you would have been in deep poop should he have told the truth.

all in all glad you're okay. and pass the word that street/highway racing isn't the coolness.

sheesh, i just got raced by some douchebags in an old ford thunderbird. they were behind me at a red light, when it turned green, i went and shifted ever 10 mph until i got to 40 mph, they pull up along side me hold even for half a second and then floor it. after their piece of crap got up to like...55 mph (i was still only going 40 mph) they turned on the hazard lights like they had beat me and hooked a u-turn at the next light. what pansies. even though i coulda easily destroyed that jalopy in every way shape and form of racing, there is just literally no point in proving it on the street. especially because of the amount of trouble you can get in, (it actually was a school zone too, but this time of year i don't think that matters). but also the lives that can be put at risk.

and who cares. even if that douche bag goes onto his ford thunderbird owner's forum and brags about how he pwned a scion tc with loud exhaust and a cf hood, who cares?
