Default My adventures in Wii shopping.

So after UFC ended last night, I went to bed. I woke up at 4:45, got some hot cocoa and went to Wal-Mart. The closest one had 21 systems and passed out the tickets already. I make my way to Best Buy who was supposed to have 162 in stock. I was #112 in line so I was pumped. As I'm sitting there with some strangers bs'ing and enjoying the cold weather, someone mentions that there is only 102 systems. Apparently one of the employees checked the inventory earlier before he waited in line.

So I'm sitting there hoping he was wrong or they added some more after that happened, when people start talking about a list. Turns out the people that were there since really early Saturday afternoon started a list and had it filled out to 105 people. They were doing hourly "roll calls" to make sure the people were still there. Of course this turned into a fiasco because as it got closer to the tme for the tickets to be passed out, they started to line back up. Oh yeah, I forgot to add that people signed the list and went and chilled in their cars or whatever for a while, only to be back for the roll calls. So there is some dispute about the validity of the list when someone mentions the Manager said he wouldn't honor it.

Well next thing you know, the manager comes out with 2 other guys and 4 police officers to line people up.....according to the list. Lots of arguing happens, and then a bunch of people behind me leave. So 105 people are lined up and I just hung out behind them all hoping someone would end up not buying it or something.

People start scalping the tickets as soon as they pass them out. One guy ripped the ticket up because he didn't want one. Turns out he just waited with some friends, and decided to sign his name for the sole purpose of screwing others over. Random guy A that was right next to me buys the torn ticket for $1. He gets #74.

A few people that are in front of me(without tickets) take off, so I am the first person to get the remains. So I get inside after freezing my ****** off, and make my way through the line. The guy in front of me gets his console and walks away happy. I tell the people I don't have a ticket and nobody behind me does either. That we were all waiting to see if anyone didn't buy theirs. So they make us all sit there a few minutes, then finally I hear, "This is the last one. It's all yours man."

Basically, I got lucky as all hell. Someone that was waiting in line was apparently on the fence about buying it. They decided not to. After I bought it, I found out the girl tried to give her ticket to some lady who was with her 12 year old son. Since it was sold they couldn't do anything about it. At first I almost felt bad that the kid couldn't get one. Then I saw the kid and his mom. They snuck into the line after getting there at 8:30am. Between that and the kid's mom being a _____ I was no longer feeling bad.

Long story short:

I bought the last Wii in stock at Best Buy in Crossgates Mall. I r teh happy.

I actually went to bed right when I got home. I made this thread after I woke up. I had a Pre-order for Zelda at a different store so I went and picked that up. I'm about to go start it up now and rock some Wii golf.
