Default Need advice from the SL ladies...

and guys maybe on what you got your girlfriends. Try and make this short so i don't bore anyone. Me and my girlfriend were together for a year but when both went to school things kinda settled down being two states away. But now a year later we have been back together for 3 months and things are going better than ever. Her birthday is coming up and im absolutely clueless on what to get...which is what im looking for suggestions on. She really likes dolphins so i was thinking a dolphin ring or necklace but then i was thinking of a promise ring. I have a little over $500 to spend so there are alot of possiblities. Please post some of your suggestions and if possible a link where i could buy it. Thanks alot.

Dolphin pendant would be great if you rather not it be a ring.

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...xx.esn_results

you can add the pendants you want (there's also a dolphin in there, could put a couple of those or mix n match). If she likes yellow gold.

If she really cares about nature n dolphins this site has stuff that part of it will go towards the Marine animals:

Fancy Schmanzy ones:

just buy sterling silver dolphin jewelry. I have women on both sides of the family, and while a few love dolphins, buying a gold dolphin piece of jewelry is just not going to be worn a ton. Btw, women(even family members) make fun of women who are so into dolphins, butterflys, frogs, clowns, cows, pigs etc... that they have fill their house and jewelry box with them.

If you're planning on getting a promise ring, you waited about 5 years too long because you're not in high school anymore. Sorry to come across that way, but I imagine your girlfriend is 20-21 as well and if she was wearing a ring on her ring finger and showed her friends, and had to explain that "no it's not an engagment ring, it's a promise ring...o, you want to know the difference? well, i'm not 100% sure either."

My vote is borrow another 500 bucks, get her a 1/2carot solitare engagment ring OR take that $500 you have, buy some silver dolphin jewelry for her, and a nintendo wii, ipod or cute little digitial camera if she doesn't have one.

save your money. Not too long ago there was a thread about a guy who wanted to get a ring back after they've broken up (1 $400) value. Duh, you gave it to her it's her's hello? Just don't spend an amount of money that you will regret later on.

IDK the situation, but 3months is not that long to be spending $500. Meh, that's just me.

This is their second time together. They were together for a year and now they are back together. I say if you think she's worth the money go for it, but remember a gift is just that. You can't get it back if things go south.

I think the bottom line is that HE wants to spend that much. Nice girls don't expect anything. Like me.

not sure if i said, i work for a large jewelry manufacturer/designer. i sit in meetings about the upcoming jewelry trends/fashion at least once a week, view all the newest designs coming out of italy and thailand, participate in focus groups, etc... you girls would probably love to call it a job.
i hate the materialism of fashion, but that's where im working.

Don't buy gold from Macy's (I work for Jewelry dept part-time, quality sux and most likely to break).

http://diamond-heart-necklace.com/su...hin%20Pendants
those are pretty...

i think silver or gold with gems/diamonds is the way to go also for something like this.. cuz gold itself will most likely not be filled in the back and will look like something you would get in the stand at the mall.

this is overpriced but found this ring.:

Get her something you made yourself. You can do that for a lot cheaper than for something you buy and it will impress her more to have something one-of-a-kind. Something artsy I think.

Hmm... You might want to think if there's anything she likes besides "dolphins". Heh, maybe you could buy her scuba lessons and a scuba certification.

Sure dolphins are cute and smiley, but I just know they are thinking in their humongous brains how to take over the world again from us landed hairless beach monkeys.

sorry, i think scrap booking is one of the..."greatest things in the world". I'm an artist, i design professionally, and even the girls i work with "scrap book" at work, but scrap booking for fun?

I went with my wife to fabric store one time, because her mom suggested scrap booking after our son was born.
We spent like 2 hours looking for 12x12 single sheets of fancy paper, and lots of "fun" decorations each page.

I think that $75+ scrapbook with about a dozen photos in it is somewhere collecting dust in a closest. It could(and should be) in the trash and even the wife wouldn't know.

I'm all for making something, as i always make cards for people, but then again, i get paid to do it(tho my work doesn't know) and have adobe pshop/indesign and then handwrite a poem i wrote in them. something most people aren't able to do.
