Default Need some help with my computer

iTunes was giving me problems with not opening and even the guys at Apple couldn't help me. So i went into Add/Remove programs and removed Quicktime and iTunes as well as 3 or 4 "mysearchbars" spyware crap, along with iMesh, and WinMx because i never use them anymore. I then rebooted my computer. When the computer reset and the screen came up "adam or guest" I clicked Adam and entered my password. My desktop background came up... and that was it. No shortcuts, no icons, no toolbar, no nothing. I hit Alt-Cntrl-Del and 2 mins later the box pops up with only like 10 things running, mostly system files. So I rebooted again and again only getting the same results, even when opening windows as a guest. What happend? How do i fix? Nothing is loading and I can only access the computer through safe mode now, which doesnt let me get online so im stuck logging on at work.

i never saw that happen before. May you need to go to System Restore, And go back to the date your pc was working fine.

or start up in safe mode again than go to Start - Run - and type in msconfig and on the startup tab uncheck all the boxes that look suspicious then reboot normally.

Try MSCONFIG first.
Then go back to a restore point.
Failing that, try to download Spybot, CCleaner, AVG Antivirus, and Rootkit Revealer from another PC. Run them all, in that order.

Failing that, you Dell has a hidden partition that you can restore your entire computer from, like when it came to you. Back up your data and wipe it.

QFT.

that slab sounds hosed. you are probably going to end up reinstalling windows, and this time, please run some spyware blocker.

I have a HOSTS file with 400,000 ad/scum/spy/mal entries if anyone is interested. (PM)

To prevent a relapse:

Do not ever use Internet Explorer.

Scan your computer with Ad-Aware or Spybot once a week.

Download and use AVG anti-virus.

Download and use Kerio PF, Zone-Alarm or some such free firewall program.

Run CCleaner once a month.

Be sure to make one restore point per week.

Back up pics, docs, music, etc to disc once in a while.

Or.....

Just stop using Windows.

id still look to reformating though. At least if you're a big downloader. it would be good to have all your programs on a not so big but fast HDD and all your downloaded content on another drive.

my own 2 cents.
