Being that i have a brother that's in a wheelchair and will be in one for life (Cerebral Palsy), this seriously offends me.

I hope chrischoi qualifies for the handicap sign to have that hanging on the rear view mirror but you're offended for chrischoi having legal use of the sign?

Legality and moral ethics are 2 different things. Shows disregard and disrespect to the truely disabled. There's been a number of instances where me and my brother go somewhere (and i need HUGE parking spot because we use a van with a large lift to get him in and out), and i'll see someone parked in a handicap spot with a hanger but get in and out of the car fully abled. I'll have to hold up traffic to get him outta the van and go park in a regular spot. It just ____es me off how selfish people can be, taking advantage of others just so they don't have to walk that extra 100ft. Here in NC, if the vehicle is registered with a handicap parking hanger and is found parked in a handicaped spot and NOT transporting someone with physical disabilites, its an automatic fine. $$

Hangers are for the physically handicaped. Not for the mentally disabled.

^^ true that

i hate it when kids or anyone who is not really disabled but just plain lazy will park in handicap spots when they are not needed.

my mom was in a wheelchair for 8months before she passed away, and i remeber all the times we had to park far away and have her go on hte bumpy parking lot roads and it hurt her very badly..

its not only the issue of bigger spaces, its the issue of less travel in the bumpy wheelchair.

she had stage 4 breast cancer that led to her needing a replaced hip, and she fractured back.. so it wasnt funny

i hope you really are injured chris, otherwise ..and im not joking

come on guys.. you're jumping on the guy when no one knows the truth. If he's truely handicapped (whatever handicap that is) then you guys seriously need an apology.

All i'm saying is.. innocent until proven guilty.

thank you dieselstation.
so who went into the marine corps and was honorably discharges for medical reasons?
me.

but yeah you guys should seriously find out the full truth before jumping on someones face. is there a problem that physically handicaped people park in the handicap spots? i thought thats what they were for. but then again you see old people... running in and out of there cars... i mean come on man...

and yeah a little disability isn't going to hold me back from loving cars... it's not a hobbie... it's a lifestyle... yeah my car sucks.... i dont have much work on it... but i do what i can... and the corbeaus... yeah, they are alot more comfortable than the stock seats... not stiff... pretty soft...

Its the way you announced it. Didn't know you were so proud of it that you had to post it up. Unnessesary in my opinion.

Is he supposed to be all sad and depressed because he has a disability?

I commend him for making the best of his situation. He got injured in the military and is keeping a positive outlook. I commend his attitude.

I dont commend him at all. Being in the military as well, i know how little of a disablity it takes to get one of these placards. Yes maybe you have one, but do you NEED one?
If you truly cannot walk the 50 extra feet then yes I commned you for having one. But if its just haveing it because you can, then I think its totally wrong.
I could go into sick call and claim my hip or whatever hurts and have a placard within the week. Would I, no. And if you are truly handicapp, the tC with racing seats is not the easiest car to get in and out of.

So whats the dissability?

My friends parents have a great idea....

My friends dad is in a wheelchair from a Motorcycle accident (yes, I ride, and I'm careful), and his mom said it would be great if there were 2 levels of handicap - a blue for regular handicapped, and a black for very handicapped.

I totally agree with that, and think it should happen.

"Regular handicapped". Wow. The disability-based equivalent of racial profiling. "Oh, let him park closer dear... he's really handicapped."

Anyway, one of my buddies has a placard that we use in my car whenever we go anywhere-- he's legally blind with no vision in his right eye and about 30% acuity in the left (brain tumor damaged both optic nerves). But other than that, he's perfectly physically capable.

So by the standards of most of those who have posted in this thread, I guess he shouldn't have a placard either, right? I mean, he's only blind. I don't know about other states, but Cali doesn't hand out the placards like lollipops-- you have to exhibit a genuine disability to qualify for one.

This thread is the awful. I've never seen such distorted array of politically correct attitudes.

Okay... I was hoping nobody would be offended by my saying "regular handicapped". I should say handicapped, and severly handicapped.

Maybe those who are able to function properly without much assistance, would get a blue tag, and those who need assistance (the blind, wheelchair, etc....) could get black tags.

NOTE: If you want to get offended because I used the wrong word, don't. I am on your side, and I have people in my life who are handicapped too. I do understand it's a struggle, but you can't be picking fights like that. I'm only here to help, not shame or cast out handicapped people.

exactly.

we can settle this argument better if you state your disability. those racing seats alone make it questionable.

being a marine and getting out is not a sufficient excuse.. especially to those that understand the military's mindset.
