Paying off Credit cards? all at once or in payments
I was gonna lay out some pointers in how to get an 800+ credit score, but hell, I paid my dues to get there, only fair enough that others do too.
Plus it'll be so confusing and so convoluted that I probably won't be able to clearly and succinctly explain it anyway

I paid off one of my card completely last year, they sent me a letter becuase they saw i made a large payment and were afraid of loosing my business *yeah right* anyway they raised my limit, i dont plan on using the card again.
Unless you can totally trust yourself to hold on to the money and pay down the cards gradually, you need to pay them now.
We recently refinanced our house in order to pay off over $50,000 in CC debt. It's amazing how fast that money can disappear before you get the cards paid. Then you are left with no cash, a new loan, and continued balances on the cards.
I paid off all of my cards at once. Now I have 2 that I use to buy one tank of gas on each month and I pay them off every month. That way I am keeping them active, but not carrying any balances. My high limit ($10,000) card in locked in a safe deposit box. That way it is out of my reach (so I don't order a supercharger), but can be accessed for emergencies.
