Default Pinks all out/imports

Im just wondering why we never see any nice imports on Pinks all out. It seems like they give all the glory to the muscle cars. Im a car fan either way i love domestics but im a tuner at heart and I know there are plenty of fast (9-11sec) imports out there - just wondering why none of them ever are on pinks - all out. In fact - why isnt that beast of a tc - the 9.8-10 sec n/a tc (still using 2azfe!) - or rado's drag tc - i wish i could see one of those on tv - they deserve it. I just like seeing true engineering rather than slap it all together and hope it works. O well - just wanted to say it and see if anyone else agrees with me

A RWD larger displacement motor car is a better tool for drag racing hands down. RWD for one is much friendlier to weight transfer when going in a straight line. As mentioned, there have been a few that have done well. But, there are just so many people that will dump relatively low amounts of money in something like a fox body mustang with a v8 and run good, consistent times all day long. There are really fast 4 bangers out there (which is what most import drag racers seem to be) but it is much more common to see v8 power making those times, so the odds of seeing them out there are higher. If you pay attention to some of the early parts of the shows, you will see a number of imports out there... but in the end the muscle tends to come through.

I love to see fast imports as well.. but like many, I would much rather see and hear a rwd v8 tearing down the track. So it is also about what the majority like to see.

Thats what i was wondering so if the car has any industry sponsers it cant run on the show? Thats kinda what i thought. Still id like to see some of the quicker self-financed imports out there. I know there are some 9-11 second ones

Very true - i need to pickup an ole fox body or something to start toying with - the parts are just so damned cheap lol and theyre so much easier to work with - but imho it still wont be as fun to drive on the street but itll be more fun to dirve down the track

And there is a lot of good engineering going into the muscle cars. There is something to be said about forcing every last bit of power out of a motor NA, then making it run on a blimp full of nitrous :D I actually find NA building to be more impressive than slapping a big turbo on a 4 banger. Not taking away from the latter at all.. but the guys out there building a v8 from the ground up and pushing enough power to pull the front wheels off the ground use a lot of experience to do it.

Now, on regular pinks, you see more cars that are thrown together, simply because they know they are potentially going to lose them

I dont watch the show much mainly because the host gets on my nerves, and as much as I like watching racing, I can only watch people go in a straight line for so long.

I had an 89 fox body sitting at my dads shop back home in OK... but knew it would be forever before we did anything with it and sold it to my brother... now he has no time to do anything with it and I almost want to buy it back! Those cars are great starts for 1/4 mile cars. Of course, I would like to fit a 572 crate chevy under the hood... for one to get on ford guys nerves... for another getting 700 hp out of the box with no boost or nitrous is something to be awed!

yo ive watched this show a bit..i might be wrong but i think they just edit out the imports. out of all the episodes i only remember seeing like 2 hondas.. and even when they owned the guys in the booth would always say "wow that guy got owned by an import".

so i just stopped watching it because it seems like they only want muscle cars or somtin.. i mean i like all those too but its just how they look down upon using imports for some reason

They did have the civic with the flames on it face a camero I think. But the civic did pretty bad, it had the common problem that all front wheel drive car have it wouldnt hook up for anything. There has been a few on there, but like engifineer said it is just a lot easier and cheaper to make a fast V8 then a 4 banger.

making fast dragsters out of imports is alot more complicated and expensive it seems, turbos and intercoolers and ecu tuning and building up the rest of the car to withstand that abuse, all the heat they build up etc. nobody wants to lose a car that expensive.

then, on pinks all out, it is bracket racing, so the imports that show up are already a tiny minority of the cars that actually show up, and then they only pick 16 cars that are within tenths of a second of one another in the 1/4 mile time. the odds are just really against them getting through.

I don't know about your guys area but here were I am from every weekend is a battle against the domestic guys, there is some fast ___ cars around here too. a lot of my friends drive 9 - 11 second cars. Since there is nothing to do in my area thats all we have to look forward to for our weekends.
Here are a few friends cars.
500+ WHP integra racing some muscle

Honda civic turbo racing twin turbo corvette

Talon racing bikes

Cobra vs Civic Cobra is turbo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7kfHtr9azc
CRX vs turbo Cobra
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py2hNmugXJU

these are just a few cars from my area alone and i know there are plenty more cars in the country that are way faster. Most of these cars were built from home and tuned at shops. personally its way more impressive to me to watch a car with half the motor beat a muscle car that has been lightened and is not even street functional win. thats what it is all about. the reason why muscle cars are so hot is because older people are into them and they have more money to throw into them. Imports are still in the growing stages so give them a bit and they will soon be able to accomplish and beat records that those rwd muscles have put up.
