Default PLEASE READ / CLOSE FRIEND & CAR NUTS STORY! HELP PLEASE

Hey guys. A close friend of mine named Kris Castner suffered an odd horrible & sudden infection in his heart 2 weeks ago. He was at work when he passed out a few times and collapsed with abdominal pains. Our immediate thought was that he had a ruptured appendix since that is what it sounded like to us non medical types. The next thing I know, his wife was calling me telling me that he was going into ICU. NOT GOOD. Long long story short, Kris had a horrible infection of staphylococcus in his heart valve. Part of what they call “vegetation” broke loose from it and traveled to his spleen which was causing the abdominal pains. In a flash, his whole body was infected with this bacteria and all went downhill in a heartbeat. He had to have open heart surgery & was open for 10 hours. He has been on machines & so forth keeping him alive for a long time. Last Wednesday, the doctors gave him less than a 5% chance of survival and gave him some experimental nuclear antibiotics that would either kill him or help him as a last resort. It has been a horrible emotional rollercoaster for his family, friends and myself.

Kris made it through that and is still in ICU and unconscious but doing better, slightly better! We are soooo hopeful he will pull through. He is NOT out of the woods yet, his internal organs have not yet started working properly & he has a clot in his liver which hopefully the meds are taking care of.

Long story but I felt I owed it to you in order to ask what I am going to ask. I am looking for ANY donations to go to his loving wife and family as he was the primary income earner. He also has two wonderful children that would appreciate this as well! All we can do is sit back and wait right now to see the outcome of these events. It tears me up beyond belief as the guy is only 36 years old..

I am asking this as Kris is a car guy just like you and I. He is a Subaru fanatic and races / drives a turbo GC8. And I am asking this as if something like this happened to me or anyone in our large car family, I would hope someone would do the same for my / your family.

If you guys can spare 10 cents or whatever dollar amount, I am sure it would be a blessing beyond words for the family! Please show this Subaru loving guy & fellow car nut some love. Show the Subaru crowd how awesome the scion crowd really is!

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...ton_id=6323259

His wife Joy will be given receipts of all donations & your email address. I will also post a special thank you post with your screen name for contributing! Any donations are welcome so donation amounts will not be posted.

If anything, please say a prayer for my bud and his family or post up some good thoughts so that I can print them and give them to his family! And if you can forward this to any other car sites you are a member of, that would be awesome sauce!

More information about Kris and how much he is liked / loved on the Subaru forums & also the SCCA forums.

Wow man that is AWESOME! Thank you so much! It is actually the first donation made so far as I just started this tonight! Cannot wait until he comes out of things and wakes up, then tell him the scion guys beat the subaru guys to the first donation for his family!

I also made a donation. So many horrible things have been going on lately. This isn't a good week for me, & I can imagine what you're going through as well. I lost 2 members of the Auto Concept Elite/High End Performance family in a shoot out in the Phillipines, & another member almost got car jacked for his M3 & didn't walk away unscathed. Also what's going on in Iran is hitting very close to home as I'm 100% Iranian. I'll be making 500 Iranian Support/Awareness bracelets tonight.

I can only imagine what you & his family are going through & I'm sending hope your way!

Wow man I feel for you and all you are going through. Man 2008-2009 has been total crap for me as well. Lost a lot of good friends & family members, this one about pushed me over the edge when the doctors said he had less than a 5% chance last week & to "prepare" But the little ____ is tough as nails and fighting through what would have killed a lesser man.

Again, thank you guys SO much for your contributions, his wife "Joy" is going to be so shocked that so many strangers are donating! I knew the Scion crowd would come through as they always do & always have!

I am Heading over to see Kris at the hospital today & give Joy the first round of donations at noon! Now would be a great time to get in a donation! She will be overwhelmed with how generous people have been & that I hope will continue to be!

Also I gave Joy the first round of donations & receipts yesterday! She had tears in here eyes was in shock at the generosity from the various car communities! She just kept saying "thank you" and that was not a thank you to me, but a thank you to everyone that is helping her through these rough times. She stated the donations are helping to take an enormous weight off he shoulders as she is trying hard to make it through this on her single income right now. She is even going to work and so forth doing all she can & still spending massive amounts of time at the hospital & with her kids. Very tough strong woman!
