i just got back from a test drive. the software works pretty well from my quick evaluation. i didnt have a big enough lot to do a full blown test.

i have a mk5 gti. set the weight at 3300lbs. only mod is a cold air intake. did 0-50 in 6.3 seconds and it told me 195hp which is pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

 

How does it read the car? Do you have to connect the iPod/iPhone to anything?

nope. uses the accelerometers in the iPod and then does a buncha math to figure it out.

cup holder. though im gonna get some kind of dash mount for it.

on one test it fell over in the cup holder and said i did 0-60 in 3.3sec. the quartmile in 8.35 @ 198 haha.

 

I already have a cup holder mount for the iPod I keep in my car, so I can just put it in that.

 

Dang, I don't want to update my ipod because it is jailbroken just for this app. Wish it had shown up on "installer for free"

 

I am going to buy that app right now, thats sick!

 

So I took it for a test drive and am very impressed. The data gathered matched up very well with my results from my last time at the dragstrip...... I still really need to work on launching.... my times suck... lol

I also really want to find a way to mount it so I can watch the skidpad as I drive, that feature is sooo cool! I thought about sticking a dock somewhere on the dash with velcro or double sided tape but I don't think I want it to be that permanent as I wont always want to have it there... hmmm also the thing can still wiggle a bit in the dock so i need a more secure solution anyways...
