I bought it last night... but couldn't find a good place to actually try it out. Was doing it in kind of a rush though and was just trying to find a spot close to the house. Will have to try again tonight and find a proper spot.

Safety first!

yeah location is tough. I'm fortunate enough to have a 1 mile long stretch of straight pavement near my house that is often not heavy in traffic, however cops still do hang out on the neighbor hood roads that intersect it. It was around 11 when I went out last night so I doubted there would be any police there and I drove up and down a few times to make sure. I only took two runs when I was absolutely certain there were no cars coming from any direction. lol what sucked though was that even though I made sure there were no cops, I was so paranoid one was still gonna pull out from somewhere... really kills the fun when your worried about gettin caught lol.

I love this app though, I just ordered this so I can get more use out of the skidpad feature: http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...atalogId=10101
the mount looks pretty solid, whats cool is you can secure it several different ways (windsheild, airvent....) to see what works best. I'll let you all know how well it works. I really want to use the skidpad feature while autoxing, it would be really interesting.

You cant.... I know I have a few "Unnamed Rides" in my list aswell. There are a few bugs that need to be worked out, thats one of them. Another one is how finiky the "Modifications" list is; it never wants to cooporate. I imagine these and other problems will be fixed when the program is updated.

I would also appreciate it if it saved that nifty graph that compares mph, hp, and G's. After you finish a run it saves all the results, which is great but once you navigate away from the graph you'll never see it again :-(

i doubt you will be aloud to autocross with that. it could very easily go flying around. not to mention if your watching that instead of the cones....

turn it on and stick in the armrest or something.

eh, they never give me any trouble about my GPS stuck to the windsheild or my scanguage velcroed to the dash (I love gadgets lol), so I think it will be fine. I dont plan on watching it while I race, but review it after. It can move around too much in the cupholder or armrest for autox so securing it to the airvent or window would be better.

Also you cant pause the skid pad, so as soon as I lifted it out of the armrest to review the data, it would be void if it turned it at all, again mounted to a vent or window, I can look at it right there and reset it easily for following runs :-)

Speak of the devil, did a google search and found this, and it works with smartphones.

http://www.obdkey.com/obd_bluetooth_info.asp?

Now someone get an iPhone SDK and write a program for it!

Fkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

Ah well, lol.

Guess I don't have to worry about completing it now.

Guess i'll buy the program, so I can test it out on my car.

that sucks, sorry man.

hey maybe you could write a different one. You know what would be cool, a program that you could use to track the movement of your car while autoxing and then look at you path of travel from a birds-eye-view. You could use that to see what turns you need to smooth out or alter the lines of... I'd buy it :-)

hey thats a nice find! though I'd rather pay for a $15-$20 iPhone app than a +$500 device

Oh but I started poking around that site and this toy caught my eye: http://www.evoschool.com/shop/index....etail&p=28&c=9

Do you know anyone that has experience with it? I hate that there's no way to lock the driver's side seat belt like you can the passenger's side...

Our region just hosted one of those EVO schools. Too much $ for me to go and burn up a set of tires.

A couple people have recommended that to me in place of getting a harness (mostly b/c it's a LOT cheaper). They say it works really well.

the MaxQ Data things can be hand for about $350.

http://www.maxqdata.com/
you dont need a pocket PC. the unit acts as a HD and then you upload it to a CPU when you get home. a racing buddy has one and i logged a few laps with it. very cool stuff.

i hear the belt lock things work well. what i always do is put my seatbelt on then move the seat forward one click. nice and tight.

I just found out this morning that you can. Just slide your finger to left on the name that you want to delete. so going from Right to Left and then you should see a delete button come up.

Does this only work for the new Iphones, or will us suckers that got the original one be able to use it?

As long as you upgrade to the 2.0 software, you should be fine. It works on the iPod Touch (no GPS) so you'll be OK. It just uses the accelerometer.

I wonder if they'll add some more additional features.
