If you have an in with any shops have them write up a receipt backdated for the day after the ticket, for labor of them removing the tint from the lights or replacing them. Then just bring the receipt to court and tell them you got them fixed.

Does the tC2 already have LEDs as the lights? you could change the bulbs for super bright LEDs. that way you can see them better with the tint.

Sadly, the stock tails for the tC2 aren't LED's.

Personally I'm disappointed with the taillight design for the tC2

I got pulled over in AZ twice for this matter. The first time was with my 350Z for tinted tails. I, too, got a ticket. I went to a shop (I knew the owner), and he wrote me a legit invoice stating I paid them to remove the tail light tint. I just paid the fee from the ridiculous ticket. Mine weren't even as dark as yours are. Gotta pay to play. Oh and FYI, some insurance companies will pick up the citation and raise your rates up to 3 years... or at least that's what happened to me when I was in the process of changing insurance companies.

As for the second time, I got pulled over in my tC for tinted tails but the cop decided to write me a ticket for no proof of insurance. I have no idea how this happened because I did have the proof. He just threatened me stating it was either the no proof of insurance ticket, or a ticket for the tails.

Many cops out here don't enforce the stupid little details, but then again - some do. It is in violation of the law, so I suggest going vinyl or no tint at all.

My friend had a mustang cobra, and tinted the headlights. I remember driving with him at night, and I could not believe the amount of light output it was reduced by. I said something like "I bet you get pulled over in less than a week". We were pulled over that same night.

I would bet my house, that if someone rear-ended you, and it was because your equipment infraction that they couldnt see you, and they could prove that you altered your lights to be out of DOT compliance, and infact diminished the light output so far, that people could not really see your tails - you would lose that case.

Just go do the right thing. Get replacement tails, and swap yours for car shows.

When i called the police dept they said that it was legal as long as the light output is visible at certain distances during night and day. Thanks for the intelligent repspsonse tho!

Why do you get to be the math wizard? You just multiplied by 12! How does that make you special? I actually had to pull out the calculator!
